Prescription medicines pose problems for athletes with back injuries. If the script masks the pain then it would be difficult to risk any activity. He could do more damage and not even realize it. Some scripts also take a while to get out of the body's system and he could risk failing a drug test if he tries to fight in 21 days. Hopefully he gets an accurate diagnosis because back injuries are very tricky sometimes.
Eh, I am betting a lot of guys on this board including me have fought through worse injuries than a back strain. All you really need is a local and you are good to go. But haye still has two weeks, more than enough time to properly heal from a strain. Maybe you wont second guess it, but I will because this says a lot of about someones character to me.
Uh no.....you have no clue what you are talking about. Why the hell would Haye, knowing his ass is doomed anyway come into this fight any less than 100% If he ducks out completely then I'll call him on it but I'll give him the benifit of the doubt here.
The back is a different animal. It affects pretty much eveerything you do compared to a leg or arm injury. The only way to allow a back injury to heal is to do nothing for a couple of weeks, whereas if you tweaked your shoulder you could do everything that doesn't involve using that shoulder and then do rehab for that injury after training. Why would he come into this fight having not trained to his full abilities for 2 weeks leading up to the fight.......he needs everything he can get.
You and I have very different views of a professional fighter. You seem to want to make an excuse for any little thing that doesnt leave a guy 100%. I favor toughness and balls. Lots of fighters arent 100% when they enter the ring. The list of issues that could be excuses going into the ring is never ending. I know, I have many many fights under my belt. I have fought with a back strain. I even fought with a fractured tuberosity and tendon damage and it hurt like hell to throw even one punch. I was one armed the whole fight. A Back strain? With 2 mroe weeks to heal? **** off!
if it's not a serious injury but merely a strain or a sore muscle or something that Haye has absolutely no legitimate reason to postpone the fight. ****, what next - fights will get called off when someone breaks his nail?
According to his trainer, he has been getting steroid injections on the injury site. That means disk issues. Probably a herniated disk. Which if that's the case, he is done. Yes, it can be repaired, but he will not be boxing in three weeks.
That's what I thought, too. I think its a ploy to give Haye either time to get better prepared, or to weasel out, entirely. But, I may be wrong, but knowing his back will be good to go in a mere 3 weeks sure is fishy sounding, to me.
I'm certain it was a back strain now because his trainer all but stated it, he said that his figther needs physiotherapy and needs 3 weeks to heal. "A couple of days ago the symptoms were more of a concern. He couldn't do certain sessions that were important and so we sent him off to have it scanned and the scan showed a condition that basically needs some aggressive physiotherapy." Says Booth. Let me break this down for you. Haye strained his back by not doing something properly in training. He didnt immediately take a couple days off to rest it and it hurt worse so he got a little stiff. then his trainer noticed and they delayed the fight. Now, he has had a couple days off training and the timeline for recovery is less than when he was stiff. duh, its a back strain. of course he is feeling better with just a day or two rest. Poor training by hayes team not to notice this at the right time. Added into that that there is still plenty of time for Haye to be ready for June 20th with just 2-4 more days of total rest. Then some stretching and cardio the next few days and Haye is good to go! lastly, a local befiore the fight and this type of injury is a nonissue
So now he can get guiced up for the fight too?!?! :rofl If I were Wlad i'd tell this clown to go **** himself. This is beyond ridiculous!!!
nono you get steroid injections for swelling/inflammation. If this is a disc issue then there is no way the fight could be held in another 21 days period. I have had these myself and there was controversy when i had an injection. because one dr. said it doesnt treat a lumbar strain and he cited medical research. In general, epidural steroid injections for radicular lumbosacral pain have shown no impact on average impairment of function, on need for surgery, or on long-term pain relief beyond 3 months. Their routine use for these indications is not recommended
If Haye will be on steroids like his trainer is suggesting that fight becomes absolutely senseless. It will be declared an NC as soon as it's over and the official tests are done. Remember Toney-Ruiz.
Actually some argue that Vitali's acts were more cowardish, because his injury was light enough to fight on with knee braces (as fighters in the past had done with similar light injuries), but canceled the fight anyway. "Arum said he was told about the injury Friday night by Klitschko's handlers. Arum took Klitschko to orthopedic surgeon Tony Daly, who diagnosed the injury as a sprain and fitted Klitschko with the brace. Klitschko injured the knee while sparring Thursday in Los Angeles, Arum said. The injury caused him balance problems, which Arum said the brace will prevent." Source: USA Today
Im not certain of each countries or organizations rules, but if you are prescribed a treatment for a documented medical issue you are allowed medications. I fought after having prednisone given to me.
