I generally don't recognize that many Latino commentators on tv or know how good their English might be. I remember something about Barrera going to school to learn how, just in case, and the "Goooooooooooal!" guy dying.

Would HBO need a Mexican and a Puerto Rican? Would Jerry Olaya (their new fantastic translator) be someone you'd like to see more of?

No trolling on who should drop from the panel to make room, please. Just good names the rest of us can check out, poll on, and write letters to HBO about! :deal

    Raul Marquez.
He has experience as a commentator and has worked with HBO Latino and NBC in the past.

I love his story about being hunted down by the Secret Service because he nicked George Bush's phonetic speech notes! :smoke

Good pick! Can't believe I didn't think of him... probably physically impossible for him to comment on both HBO channels at once. Pre and post-analysis, plus interviews, could be subtitled, though.

ummm Mario Lopez did commentate for a few fights but wasn't for HBO. I'm not sure if he's still in the boxing scene. He did an alright job. He commentated for Pacquiao Morales III and some other pretty big named fights.

Mario Lopez is a surprisingly good commentator. Plus people will watch because he was, no IS AC Slater!

Yeah, it's hard to take Mario seriously when you see Slater's face at the table. When the camera's off him, though, it's easy to forget 'Saved by the Bell' and enjoy his insights. He's good! I don't know if he'd be enough to bring in more Latino viewers, but it'd be a good start!

I don't know. A Spanish language Tecate ad during an ESPN2 broadcast is enough for me.

Thats how I feel about him. He could make the most intelligent boxing statement ever, and I just wouldn't be able to take it seriously, because in my mind its AC Slater saying it :nut

According to Wikipedia, he was a Morman missionary in Culiacan, Mexico, where he got the "Peligroso" nickname. I had no idea his dad was the guy who ate nothing but snow for almost two months after crashing in the Yukon... if Wiki's being honest for once, that's pretty cool.

Brian Kenny seems to do his best to trip BJ Flores up, but he seems like a natural in there. Even does fair analysis of his own fights.
