    Hopkins is a master strategist.

Who can fault his tactics against Taylor in the 1st fight? Give Taylor the first 7, win the next 5 and expect to win the fight? Genius!!

China, he's joking around with words and 1000 punches ( a round or in Kessler's 12 rounds) but his comments do say something else - the risk to be countered when tryin to throw/land many punches. Obviously he can't throw 60%-50% of that number... Everybody must have understood that.

Catch calzaghe with as many right hands as you want. He'll walk through them and come straight back with his own shots and always come off better in the end. So while these kind of theories about catching Joe may be well presented, and in practice they apply to a great number of fighters, Joe Calzaghe is not like any other fighter. If his chin was anything less than stellar I would agree that he is very open to being countered. The truth is, nobody has really hurt him.

I agree. Props to Hopkins, but facts are facts, he's old, he's a natural middleweight, and Joe Cal is simply too strong and active for him.

To me this is an easy fight to predict. Calzaghe will win a wide decision by effective punch volume.

I respect Hopkins and his style, but it's time for him to retire, depsite the wins over Wright and Tarver.

Exactly right, if Joe is gonna throw millions of punches he will eat some back and for his sake they better not be big shots.

Berard is a natural LHW, look at the size of him compared to Joe, he is the bigger stronger man.

Hey mate, I'm not gonna be bitchy here and throw insults around, but you, along with Rumsfeld, are in the minority. To say "Calzaghe fans are in for a rude awakening"... do you honestly think this? I presume you've taken a good look at Calzaghe's skills in the ring, and all things considered, you have somehow come up with a comment like that. I really wonder if you actually feel what you're saying. Is it an automatic bias because Joe is from another country? Do you not agree that Calzaghe is one of the most gifted boxers of our generation? I would think a true boxing fan could recognize a talented fighter when he/she sees one. Maybe Rumsfeld should answer.

Hey Rumsfeld, what makes you think Bernard can fight Joe and win?

With all due respect and friendship, that doesn't make a lot of sense FRKO. I can be wrong but I thought Calzaghe was to go in there to outclass this guy and not to prove that he can't be hurt... I mean this is not Fernando Vargas vs Ricardo Mayorga! I know anybody can get hurt, the shot is not expected, it explodes in your face, your brain starts to pin-ball in there, it's a useless ****! Calzaghe is open to a right counter due to Bernard's ability to counter and to the classic orthodox-southpaw style matchup ( Marvin Johnson vs Matthew Franklin comes to mind) - you only avoid the right hand collision course with your body if you avoid him getting set with a counter, sliding with your own jab first and/or block the shot ( Winky Wright on Tito and on JT) or if you fight on the back foot and turn to your right, ducking the shot, lil head movement or side steppin a bit ( Pernell on JCC). Joe C takes right hands alright - all the way since the first against Reid, Eubanks ( sixth) Mitchell, Woodhall ( eight), Salem ( fourth), Kessler ( fifth), even as far back as against Delaney ( after the first) and Wilson... He should not take those shots cause you never know - the guy in my avatar was never knockdown before taking on Tyson in 88, was shaken up by Holmes in the rematch but never quite like it. In this major fights, these guys have atypical reactions so it's better not to take the shot and you're not going to do that by wasting yourself superfast like Herbie Hide against Bowe, McGuigan against Cruz or Hatton against Mayweather... You need to fight smart. Double, triple jab on Hops and fast combination with the left and right and get outa there, don't sit with your punches, don't stay in the pocket... Enzo needs one american second cause they might lose the sense of it - that's the delusional part most are talkin about in here, you don't realise the danger.

You make a very good argument, Dorfmeister. It's not easy for me to counter! Hehe. But I am sorry if you misunderstood my post. Maybe I didn't word it as well as I could have. But anyway, I disagree, and I think I was making perfect sense, as did several other members who agreed with what I wrote.

I do realize the danger, but I also think the danger is far less pronounced as it might be for other fighters. This is not me being a blind nuthugger, I just feel calzaghe is genuinely a cut above the rest and the only person in any great danger here is Bernard Hopkins.

That's what 's going to happen. B-Hop is the master of taking fighters out of their rythm. Just ask Winky :yep

Even now, I can't see Hopkins getting KO'd or dominated, it's more like a close UD in his favor.

This fight will further the belief that back in the day, any version of Calzaghe would lose. How bad?... It can be better judged after the fight.

This is not a great argument. Is headbutting a bloated junior middleweight such a great example of how to win a fight for such a legend as Bernard Hopkins?

    Really? :huh

I wasn't impressed one bit with that fight.

Regarding "rhythm", come on man, Calzaghe can change up his rhythms like Buddy Rich! He is not a predictable fighter. Any good drummer will tell you that. ;)
