If he wins, should it be retirement time for Anderson Silva? Do you want that?

He should continue to fight so long as he is competitive on some level, and his heart is in it/ he really wants to fight.

I'm not even for Sonnen retiring if he gets spanked (you know I can't stand Sonnen).

MMA is on a little bit of a decline, losing A. Silva would be a loss to the sport at the moment.

He just became a superstar in Brazil a year ago. Why retire if he dominates? Fight more and make more of that Anderson Silva money.

Silva has the best chance to beat Jones of anyone and I'd favor him on the feet in that fight. On the ground, Sliva would have his work cut out. Good fight and definitely one I'd like to see.

I just can't see any scenario other than Jones immediately throwing him to the ground and brutalizing him from top position. I can't see why Jones would elect to keep the fight standing. :conf

I reckon Jones would do exactly what Chael did, except with Bones on top landing punches and elbows it wouldn't last two rounds. No disrespect to Anderson, but it's too much to ask a 37 year old long-time middleweight. If it was any other LHW, then sure. But Jon Jones is a fellow ATG who is just too big and too strong and too good IMO.

    :hat

Jones doesn't have the shot like Sonnen does, and Silva can do more from the clinch than most of the guys Jones has fought. It's at least enough to be an intriguing fight, not a "no shot for silva" fight.

Anderson doesn't want anything to do with Jones' clinch. There is no way he defends Jones' takedowns from the clinch.

He should fight on but admittedly at his age I would not resent him to call it quits as the best middleweight ever.

Who has Jones fought that you think could beat Sliva? I'm not saying Jones doesn't beat him but Silva easily has the best chance of anyone out there right now. Also, that's a HUGE fight that would make him huge money. If he beats Sonnen I say he takes it and then maybe leaves the game.

    Shogun

Machida would be raped by Silva. Shogun would probably be knocked out too, but what a fight that would have been

Your post is spot on btw :deal

Rashad, Hamill, Bader, Bonnar, and Obrien would all give Anderson trouble. Bad matchups stylistically. He's faced two elite wrestlers in his entire career, one beat him handily in the first fight and then got choked out after abandoning it, the other beat him for 23 minutes before getting subbed. I could see Rampage giving him trouble too if he actually used his wrestling.

And yeah, I know Bonnar is by no means an elite wrestler, but he's a huge lhw, and I'm not sure how Anderson would deal with being the smaller fighter against a guy with a legit boxing background and tough chin. Would only be the second time he wouldn't have a size advantage in his entire career. The first being when he merc'd Forrest.

Anderson relies too heavily on his reaction and timing which will fade rapidly as he ages. If he is gonna stay around longer he has to change his style or hes gonna go down Roy Jones Jr path :-(

Jones would manhandle Anderson. Id fully expect Anderson to retire if he goes out in a big way Saturday.
