Right. So that would be what you'd explain in a thread about why Tyson was the H2H #1 fighter. You'd explain his skillset and abilities, and why you believe that these would enable him to beat most other fighters.

The people who disagree with you could then raise whatever objections they believe prevent Tyson from being considered H2H #1, and you could explain why these objections don't work.

And the whole forum is better off for having seen a long discussion with the best arguments made on both sides.

I could share how I view those fights unfold, as in who I think he beats and why.
For example, I think he beats Ali and Holmes every time.
Louis isn't even in the discussion for me. He was great for his era, but pretty much gets beat by all top ATGs post 1960.
Vitaly might win a boring fight on points, but then again Tyson might also be able to get in close and do damage.
Liston is the one who I believe has the best chance to beat Tyson.
Foreman also has the style to do it, but he seems too slow and uncoordinated for me.

But even if I elaborate on all those fights, that still doesn't settle things. Some might say that even if Ali loses to Tyson, he will do better against the others overall.

Well, if you elaborate on why Tyson beats a variety of good opponents, then it's up to your critics to prove that Ali could pull off the same.

As to Louis, he may not be in the discussion for *you*, but many others here do believe he's H2H one of the best around. That's kind of the point I'm making: You can't just count on people agreeing with your judgments when they go against prevailing opinion. You have to explain in some detail why you believe what you do (and be willing to deal with objections) before they'll start accepting your point of view as being right.

In an imaginary big tournament of all the top heavyweights, where every boxer faces everyone else, surely we would have many surprises.
However, the comparison should be made with the boxers who really existed. If we have Corbett or Dempsey or others fighting for 60 or 80 years, they would have time to take the technique to unprecedented levels. They would be much better than the real Corbett or Dempsey.

I would gladly ask my Grandparents to do that if Dr. de Grey was involved, but he is not. Aubrey de Grey's ideas that Free Radical damage at the cellular level is the main cause of aging is being displaced by the real reason for aging which is we are preprogrammed to age. This study my Grandparents have volunteered for is an entirely new approach to age regression. This methodology and testing on rats has been peer reviewed and agreed with by former skeptics in the field. It has also been duplicated independently. The human study will be conducted under the watchful eyes of the FDA.

This thread points to something that may actually happen and probably sooner than most think.

Does the company/organization doing this have a website set up yet?

I do not think they have their own unique website as yet. I am not sure if they ever will. My Dad and I each recently purchased a book written by the lead Doctor on Amazon. They were charging fifteen United States Dollars for the paperback book. I gave my copy to my Grandfather to read. I think the Kindle Version was about ten United States Dollars.

Am I allowed to put a link to something that is on sale on this forum? If a Moderator or Administrator says it is okay I will link to it on Amazon.

De Grey actually had seven causes of aging, and he made a pretty convincing case about it. That said it's not to say other people haven't got good ideas on the subject and whatever therapy your grandad wants to do may be of use. The entire field is really moving fast now. I've been interested in this subject for a while, and it seems to me that there may be a real chance of radical life extension soon. Good luck :)

I agree with you. Extension and Regeneration is coming down the road and coming quickly. The problem for most who want to participate may be the price of the required treatments unless health insurance covers it which is doubtful.

I believe that in due course health insurance will cover it. If these treatments are effective, they will solve many chronic diseases of old age which are really just symptoms of aging. It will probably be much cheaper to cover the cost of turning back the biological clock a decade or two than fund terminal cancer treatment etc. I know that some treatments like stem call therapy are already being used but they will have to be combined with other approaches to be more effective. Honestly I had no idea human trials were being rolled out this soon.

If you are all but immortal, you are not going to live in the Gym all your life.

I would imagine the fighters would have roughly the same length of career, but with better sustained performances.

And I admire your faith in science; 2050ish eh?! Maybe 20,500!

After all I am still waiting for my jet pack and flying car, that I was told I would have by now as late as the 1980s! ;)
