    Interesting thread.

Holmes lost to McCall only by1 point on 2 judges' cards, because McCall had big round 9.

If not, the fight would've ended a draw. I scored it 6-6 by rounds also. So Holmes really came close to win the belt.

I think that there were 2 possible ways for Holmes (both HUGE paydays at 46, huh).

    1) Unification match vs Foreman which I'm not sure who would've won. If Holmes wins, then Tyson 2

    2) Or rematch with Tyson. I see it as very easy fight for Mike vs 46 y.o. Holmes. Tyson stops Holmes in 3 rounds in 1996. But Larry gets at least $10 mln payday

Holmes, if he risked more might in the final rounds, might have beaten Mccall on points. I felt McCall won it by a round or two, but it was close.

Holmes tried to make a match with Foreman multiple times. Foreman always refused!

As for who Holmes would have fought next had he beaten McCall, it would be someone with a name, but also someone with flaws. Maybe Morrison

He would have fought Crawford Grimsley or someone like that.

A few people have mentioned Morrison as a possible opponent if holmes had won the title. Would that have been a wise move. Could morrison have beaten Larry at that time? I wouldn't rule it out.

I forgot about Morrison. Yes, that's a fight Holmes would have gone for.
    Holmes would have defeated Morrison.

I'm not so sure about that. It would be a fascinating fight. Perhaps a great fight.

Holmes had master level skills and understanding on how to use them, but not his legs, or reflexes to survive a Morrison assault. Morrison not only could hit a ton, he had very good hand speed.

Remember Holmes could not outbox Oliver McCall. But he might catch Morrison gassing later in the fight.

In 1995? Maybe but I'm not so sure. And If Holmes had defeated McCall and acquired a title he'd now be in a position where he could challenge for a bigger pay day. I'm skeptical that he'd take a chance with Morrison..

Morrison would be easier than McCall.
Morrison would provide a good payday.

Never happening. It'd be a DKP fighter or nobody. Larry is stripped of the title within 30 days of signing a contract with anyone else.

Morrison had fast hands, explosive power and early round tenacity. Similar to someone else from Holmes past.

I'm not sure who you're refering to.
But most likely Holmes would school him. Probably stop him. Even at 45 years of age.
