after third round (assuming there was only one bad bite) and Tyson won. How well / badly received would it be?

The old fighter were alleged to have won fights in an unsavoury way but still get great credit (like harry greb)

Tyson would still have gotten reamed and Holyfield praised to the rafters for fighting with half his ear gone.

Tyson would have gotten crucified just the same, and Holyfield would have even more added to his badass legend. He'd also have a built in excuse for a 3rd match.

I don't think Tyson intended it to continue though. He wanted the boxing match over so the fight could begin. Lost his mind.

I think Mike would of won had it went on cause I think he would of done the samethings he was doing from round 3 and he figured out Holyfield in the 3rd round. So nothing would of changed IMO but had he won, people would of been upset at the verdict cause of what he did, in return he would of countered it by giving the fans a reason from Holyfileds consistent headbutting.

A win is a win. If he won decisively, or by KO, he would have been given full credit, except by the occasional internet post. No different, to holyfield receiving full credit for his first win despite probably landing his share of head butts.

I doubt that very much. Tyson was in much better condition for that fight and Holyfield was getting dominated the round Tyson had fouled him in.

It would've been FOTY for sure despite who would've won. I see Tyson stopping him in the 7th TBH. He looked better and sharper in the rematch it's just that Holyfield was a big thorn to him and he saw no option on how to remove it so he opted for a way out.

Ignore him, he's a Tyson hater. He actually had Tucker & Tillis beating Tyson so I don't take him seriously at all:lol:. He actually may be a Tyson fan in disguise trying to get a few laughs.

Tyson was well on his way to getting KO'd again, hence why he wanted a way out.

Tyson was mentally beat in 1997...... Sure he was a ripped 218, but his reflexes and timing was still off..... Tyson was fried...... He freaked in round 3 and was looking to get beat again.... Holy prolly would've whethered Tyson's assault and gone on to TKO his ass later..... IMO!

He'd probably get DQ'd later in the fight.

Under Giachetti, Tyson was moving his head better & punching with more accuracy in the '97 rematch, compared to his prior Post-Prison performances. Mike looked superb at the start of round 3, but he was a scumbag thug after prison, a mental-timebomb waiting to implode in tough bouts; Holyfield II, Botha (Mike came from behind to win by brutal KO against Botha, after encouragement in his corner from Brooks, but he did try to break Botha's arm twice with that armbar bull**** he was obsessed with Post-Prison) & McBride.

Assuming Tyson does not bite again (highly unlikely due to his madman thuggish mentality at this point), & Mills Lane doesn't stop the bloodbath on cuts... then they fight on & have a great war. Holy's face is splattered with blood as his wounded ear is struck with vicious elbows & bombs, while Tyson's eye sockets stream with blood as he charges forward & Evander throws missed hooks over his shoulders & rams headfirst into his orbital bones several more times throughout the dirty streetfight. Tyson was supremely conditioned at a visibly shredded 218lbs of solid muscle for this bout, so he doesn't become gassed, instead he has enough fuel to fight until the final bell. Another reason for Tyson not gassing is Giachetti teaching him to spin out of the constant clinches initiated by Holy to wear him down through frequent grappling (a strategy attributable to Tommy Brooks). Holy earns a close hard-fought decision, but due to the 2 point deduction for the bite, the decision becomes a comfortable UD.

If Tyson didn't get him out of there in the mid rounds than Holyfield would win by decision. Slim chance for Tyson though as Holyfield was a man posessed on both nights taking big punishment and coming back.
