Do you think Tyson would have scored the quickest KO in boxing history? I got bored and watched the first fight and Tyson landed a BOMB that stunned Holy literally 2 seconds into the fight. You think most HW would have been KO'd?
Yes, Tyson probably would've KOd most HWs with that shot. This is why having a chin is THE most important attribute in boxing. You have to be able to take a punch to come back and win against top level fighters. Many cannot do this.
Yes a lot of guys would have been KO'ed with that shot or been hurt so badly that they would likely not have made it out of the round. But if Holyfield didn't have the kind of chin he had he likely would have been a more cautious fighter and never been caught with that shot in the first place. Having a good chin is always an advantage but can be compensated for to a certain extent by good defence.
I think Tysons power vs top 10 opposition was largely FEAR moreso than actual power considering his KO record vs solid top 10s as opposed to his KO % vs lower top 50s and below. He blasted thru cans coming up, and his first step up vs a top 10 was a glassed jawed CW Tillis. And Tyson couldnt even stop him. :-(
