Even at an advance age Hopkins is pinning down big challenges. An undefeated Pavlik, a prime Pascal and a prime and very talented Dawson.

You can always slice and dice resumes to suit your agenda. But in my opinion, if Hopkins win this time, he is clearly cooler than Reluctant Roid, Void, Manny "Ask my promotor" Pacquiao or Andre "Bute must come to Oakland and be headbutted" Weird.

And what else are we left with. Joe Calslappy? His career was too odd, even though he typicly enough turned his fight with Hopkins into a slapparty unlike anything Hopkins had faced before.

The Klitschko brothers? There we have two dominating champs if ever there were any, but lets face it. Without exciting match ups, it's hard to build legends. And the last time Wlad faced an athlete of real talent in David Haye, he was content jabbing him to death.

no way, hes too cheaty to be the best or near it!

He deserves respect for being the oldest champ thats all. He deserves a lot of hate too but thats besides the point.

    He would already be.

Beating Dawson wouldn't give you that status.

No he'd have the greatest longevity but Roy Jones still dominated him with 1 hand

Sad that a 47 year old is more willing to take risks than the so-called "young lions" in boxing now. For that I give him respect and he should already be the best fighter now whether you hate him or not. No one may ever replicate staying elite at such an older age again anytime soon. Hate to sound pessimistic but he is asking to be stopped fighting on for so long but old man river finds a way to avoid that, somehow.

If Hopkins will beat Dawson clean & convincingly , he must be one of the greatest fighters of nowadays. Not first ...... first is Floyd Mayweather jr.

Hopkins has secured his legacy because he's the oldest champion/title holder in the history of boxing , he's the champ ( ranked as No 1 by Ring Magazine ) at his division and during his career he fought with a lot of big names/fighters.

In a fight where the other guy he fought was doping too so that's not really cheating. Wouldn't be surprised if RJJ doped in a fight other than that. Sucks that doping is closer than we realize.

It's hard to assume otherwise. And remember it was Roys "talent" that made him so succesfull.

Roids don't give you the speed or timing Roy had. If that was the case then his style would have been relicated to perfection now and people would be cashing in with it. Still him doping should raise suspicion to his career, not underlining that.

I would have considered calling him it if it wasn't such a **** thread. As you were a dick about mentioning his competition I'll pick the flaws in Hopkins. Hes a dirty fighter and constantly cheats. Pretends he Gets low glowed by 'calslappy' and got beat by him. Got beat by a one handed RJJ. Lost to Jermain Taylor 2 times (debateable but still lost).

So you could say Bernard 'dirty cheat get slapped about unable to beat a one handed fighter lose to a nobody twice' Hopkins is the greatest boxer of modern times, however you'd probably be wrong

I like Bhop but too many smaller men on the record, he would have to beat Bute & or ward/Erdai/Froch for me....
