Hopkins,the old geezer,should retire now. Chagaev would wipe the floor with him,and Adamek knock him out within the first 3 rounds. I even doubt that he is still able to compete with the very best at light heavy or cruiser weight.
Pavlik fought above his weight so that he was out of his shoes against a far bigger foe.

 

Top 5 if he pulls those 2 wins off.

 

Seriously, list any other boxer in history who would be "real"/ recognized champion or beat the current "real" champion at 160, 175, CW and HW and most success achieved after his 40'thies ... name single one :smoke

Toney seems to be close since he beat Jirov at CW, former champ in Holyfield and beltholder Ruiz at HW, ... but we know he chreated against Ruiz and never was succesful at 175. Jones is close also since he captured belt at HW but never fought at CW and his recent record is just below the gatekeeper level.

 

He would possibly get in the top 20/25.

How is he going to over-take someone like Sam Langford, who has wins over ATG fighters from 135 to 200+, on the basis that he steps up to beat a very beatable fighter and one of the worst heavyweight beltholders of all-time.

 

I can't believe that after one fight with Kelly pavlik, everyone is under the impression that B-hop is an exciting fighter who can beat anyone. It was a bad style match-up for Kelly.

Try to remember that B-hop is 3-3 in his last 6 fights. Come back to reality, people!!

None of these guys hold the key to all time greatness !! Valuev is as respetced of a belt holder as John Ruiz was !!

 

He may be 3-3 in his last 6, but its not like any of the losses were clear cut, far from it. I would like to think B-Hop could decision Ademek, cant see him goin up to heavy after that tho. Top 5 all time if he beat both Ademek and Chagaev.

 

Neither was his victory to the Wink man.

Before the Pavlik fight, it was "common knowledge" that B-hop had figured out a way to either snooze his way to a victory or barely lose with dignity against top-flight opponents.

He was considered to be the John Ruiz of the Light-Heavies.

Nothing has changed...he just enjoyed a preferred style match-up against a young fighter...nothing more, nothing less.

 

Woudlent fight Chag as no money in it and would be same as RJJ beating Ruiz in sense that he's clearly not the best heavyweight in the world.

 

i cannot name 10 CURRENT fighters but all time, certainly. And his age should have no bearing. He reached his peak late, I won't penalize him for it but I won't reward him either. His best performances were post-35 and that is where he is usually judged. Physically he probably peaked round the Jones fight. Ring intellect wise, top-5 all time probably. OVERALL skills, top 25 maybe. He was NEVER fast, a terribly strong puncher, a consistent combination puncher, a good mover or in any way dazzling. LIke I said before, very effecient but he lacks those extra traits that make true greatness. I feel he would be competitive in any decade but would not dominant and he was flattered by his era.

 

The man has fought one Light Heavy, and now you have him moving up to cruiser, and Heavy and winning titles... Cmon man, let him fight Dawsom first, then lets theorically discuss such scenarios...
