If Hopkins beats Calzaghe does he move past Roy all time?

    Yes.

The catch is I won't go on living should Calzaghe lose and seeing as flesh decays a tattoo shouldn't bother me when a corpse.

Hopkins won't beat Calzaghe; and RJJ already beat him a wide margin.

Bah you are no fun, at least live a couple years and post quite a bit. I would only make you put it on your back. Plus wouldn't it be some satisifaction that a yank who is a Hopkins fan has Joe Cal on his back for the rest of his life. :rofl :rofl

Absolutely - a win over Calzaghe and Hopkins becomes a top 10-15 fighter all time

    That makes no sense.

How can you put the man who beat Calzaghe so far below Joe?

So, are you saying if Hopkins were to beat Calzaghe, he would deserve to be top 5? While Calzaghe remains the best?

He's definitely be in the top 2 if he beat Calzaghe (in a fight that progressed somewhat normally - eg Calzaghe doesn't bite of Hopkins each in the first round) or my whole belief system would collapse.

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Hopkins

I assume this would be the most logical list then, correct?

He did not win the heavyweight championship. He beat a club fighter named Johnny Ruiz when Lennox Lewis was champ.

And he used steroids to do it.

    Yes.

Calzaghe would only lose to Hopkins because Joe is old.

I'm saying yes. And if you think steroids aren't a factor here, you're wrong.

Hopkins is already the greater fighter by far. Roy had freakish athleticism when he was young, but none of the master skills Hopkins has to have continued success into old age.

I don't know why everyone says Hopkins would get blown out by Calzaghe. The only danger for him is the volume of punches Calzaghe throws, so he would need to be more active than usual to avoid getting decisioned based on pure output of punches. Other than that, Hopkins has fought infinitely more tough opponents and I believe is undefeated against southpaws. At least give the old man credit for having a legit chance to win if the fight happens.

Look at what happened to Hatton when he stepped out of the UK and his mostly sheltered fights into the upper US ranks. Same story with Calzaghe.

And how old was RJJ when he fought Calsaghe?
