You must be stupid to believe that. He's not that good? He's 30-1 with wins over Tarver, Adamek, Johnson, and Diaconu. You must not know anything about boxing if you believe that. Dawson had an off fight against Pascal, yet he had Pascal hurt in the 11th round before the head-butt.

Dawson has done alot better in every rematch fight he's ever had and thats because the difficulty of the first fight forced him to be focused and train seriously for the rematch.

The fact that Hopkins has suprised many people at his advanced age, and this is the fight Dawson has wanted for years, you know he'll come in focused and ready to perform.

Huge credit must go to Hopkins if he just as much as is competitive vs Dawson, because from my view of it, I'm looking at this as a mismatch in Dawson's favor.
I'm fully expecting Dawson to stop Hopkins and for him to be well ahead on the cards at the point of stoppage.

Thats similar to how I see it, but I would have to give credit to Hopkins for his age.

Hopkins has a style weakness to fast 2 handed fighters his own size ie Jones, Taylor twice, Calzaghe, Pascal etc, which is probably why Erdei is avoided.
Dawson fits that bill, so if Hopkins were to win impressively I would be impressed and reevaluate how I have rated Hopkins previously, as I have found Hopkins has made alot of his name fighting smaller fighters coming up in weight, whilst he boiled down from LHW. Tell me when Hopkins ever looked the smaller man in the ring at MW?

What would your top 5 hopkins victories look like if he beat dawson clearly?

    Good question.
The victories I would note for Hopkins as some of his possible best wins in no order would be Wright, Tarver, Pascal (close but good victory), Eastman, Holmes, Pavlik. The shine goes off a bit on Pavlik and Wright as they were smaller fighters having to move up. I would add Dawson to the list. I guess if I had to find 5 victories and Hopkins has clearly beaten Dawson then it would be -
Tarver, Holmes, Pascal (due to age in alot of that praise), Dawson (due to style) and its between Pavlik and Wright. Thats not in order

:patsch Even though he lost to Calzaghe and Taylor. Sure you said that for reaction and to be contraversial, as you know Hopkins was beaten and have only recently changed your opinion, like you did before

Hmmmmm just for one second, imagine i'm not being controversial nor seeking a reaction. Infact imagine in a parallel universe somewhere you truly believe hopkins beat taylor in the first and beat joe. Ok just try to imagine that.

Where would you place victories over these two in hopkins top 5? Surely you would put them both in the top 5?

If Hopkins beats Dawson clearly why would you rate it under the Pavlik win?

his best..... but i doubt he will win. old hopkins beats up on crude sluggers like pavlik and pascal.

dawson is skillfull, fit, strong and big. he'll dominate hopkins imo. something like a 9 rounds to 3 decision win.

last attempt at a reasonable dialogue on this subkect?

where would you rank close victories over taylor and calzaghe amongst Hopkins current top 5?

Joe is definitely in there as either 1 or 2 (competing with tito)

However I'm not too sure about Taylor, his MW run by my cards isn't fantastic with losses to Hopkins (first fight), Wright and Pavlik.

I'm soon rewatching the Spinks-Taylor fight so I'll be able to give a more educated analysis on it.
