    This is a 2 part question;

Does he move up on your list of ATG fighters?

    and

(I know the Klits,Haye, Lennox, and Calzaghe get brought up in every thread but....)

Does Calzaghe move up in any lists? People keep saying his win over Hopkins was a washed up version when in reality, Hopkins is 6-1 and LHW, losing to Joe C.

    Yes Hopkins will improve.

Although it depends on what dawson goes on to do after.

for the record, i'm going for dawson win. Hopkins looked uncomfotable in that fight.

Calzaghe avoided Dawson, so how does BHop beating Dawson help Calzaghe's SD win?

of course it raises his stock. it's a win over the guy many consider the best in the world at 175. bernard is 47. chad was a world champion and has been established in the division for years. before that he was a dark horse, and one of the guys considered to have the most potential in all of boxing.

to say it will edge him out specifically over certain fighters is something different entirely, and will require us to actually find a place for him, and that can only happen after he's retired and some times has passed.

now, if chad shows up looking like the very good fighter that many of us think he should be and bernard picks him apart, then yes, it's a big win.

i do not see that happening. chad via stoppage

sorry, bernard. that's just how i think it will go.

and yes.... New England from "that other boxing forum."

Imo. it will be his best win ever. Because Dawson is good and because of the age he did it at. It will move him forward a lot on my list.

To be fair Dawson wasn't a draw back then.

Every fighter avoids every fighter so there isn't a need for that because you can say/make that up about anyone. You know what I'm saying. Probably a bitter Hopkins nut hugger who still thinks he beat joe.

Yes. If it's not some silly robbery. It'll be a very good scalp for Hopkins.
As for Calzaghe. Yes. It was only a decent win then (I mistakenly assumed Hopkins was shot before the fight-Clearly I was wrong) but due to his exploits since then the win has gained greater value. The doubt is weather you think Calzaghe actually deserved the win. I though he only just won by the narrowest of margins and quite a few people thought he lost.

That's a great point. I mean the majority definitely thought Calzaghe won the fight, but there are a few who disagree. Can't tell people what to believe but poll after poll shows Calzaghe winning. Ugly fight though.

    Ok fair enough.

Split decision victory over Bernard Hopkins, that some/many thought could have gone either way. Calzaghe showed heart despite being knocked down and did give Hopkins problems, but Hopkins also made Calzaghe look amatuerish at times.

So if Hopkins does, and its a big if, beat Dawson, you think it makes Calzaghe's split decision win look better?

Had Calzaghe clearly beat Hopkins I would have agreed, but it wasnt a clear cut win, it was a controversial SD and it was unfinished business.

Also, had Calzaghe remained in the LHW scene it would have helped his case, had he fought some young fighters or even a rematch with Hopkins.

Do you think Hopkins beating Pascal puts Calzaghe up a few notches?

    It raises Hopkins' stock, definitely.

It would do nothing for Calzaghe's stock at all. You don't get to piggyback on somebody else's hard work just because you just barely beat them. Styles make fights, that's why you have to fight your own battles to get credit for them. If Joe C supporters want to give Joe credit for Tarver, Pascal, Pavlik, and perhaps Dawson, they're going to have to drag Joe into the gym and make him fight them himself.
