Which he has a good chance of doing, despite his age.. He's only had trouble with quick guys. But.. if it happens, how many on this forum will instantly say that means Ward would beat Golovkin? Despite there before 4 entirely different fighters involved. Once a 'style' beats another style.. people on here go nuts and proclaim it the be all and end all..
If Hop beat Sergay the EE contingent will go on a rant how he had paid judges a ref. They'll never give credit to a near 50 year old man beating this guy. Excuses will be coming out of the woodwork.
lol Ward probably beats Golovkin at 168 whether Hopkins wins or not. One fight has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
People with brains will always judge fights based on styles first before looking into the entire situation involving both fighters, that's just how it works.
They will just say "Pointless win, nothing impressive" when in reality they will be lucky to be alive at 50.
Its sad some on here will refuse to give credit to either fighter. No matter who wins one will beat another top fighter in the divisions. Hopkins winning would be more noteworthy because of the fact he'd be able to do it at such and advanced boxing age.
I favor Ward big time against GGG. I think GGG is an outstanding fighter, but Ward is just too good. I also am in the minority in my belief that Hopkins will beat Kovalev, although this one I'm not as sure on, mainly because Hopkins is ancient. In both cases, where I would draw a similarity, is that the combination of superior footwork and faster hands are the key for both Ward and Hopkins in those respective match ups.
