If Hopkins beats Pascal, will you rank him higher than Roy and Floyd?

Jean Pascal is The Ring light-heavyweight champion, 27 years old, 26-1, and coming off a win over who most people thought was the best lightheavyweight in the world, Chad Dawson.

Bernard Hopkins will be one month from his 46th birthday by the time he meets Pascal.

    - Hopkins has not fought a top 10 ranked opponent for TWO YEARS.

    - Hopkins has not stopped anyone for SIX YEARS.

    - Hopkins has not held one of the four major world title belts for FIVE YEARS.

I don't believe that Bernard can win this fight... but if he does manage to pull it off, it really will be one of the most remarkable wins of modern times.

If he does do so, will you rank him higher in all-time terms than Roy Jones Jr or Floyd Mayweather Jr? I know that many of you will probably already rank him higher than Floyd on the basis of resume, but please give a yes or no answer on both fighters anyway.

    :good

a Second RING LHWT Title at 46 over a young fresh fighter who just pulled the big upset I have him around the sam as RJJ and Floyd this would put him further since Jones is done and Floyd seems to be winding down

Yes, but "prime for prime" is not the issue here. All-time career p4p greatness ranking is. It's a different argument.

Yes I would rank them higher than both! Not by much though

If Hopkins wins.. wow. Defying odds and proving haters wrong once again, at 46! That would be absolutely huge.

IMO, B-Hop already outranks both of them.

And by the way I do think he can pull it off!

Age is definitely catching up with him and he can't fight 3 minutes of every round, but Pascal has stamina issues of his own.. And in the skills department it's clear who's superior here. Win or lose Pascal is getting a boxing lesson :bbb:

I already rank Hopkins above Floyd and yes, if he beats Pascal, he's ahead of Jones.

Upkins (how the Haitian pronounce it) has a good chance against Pascal. And yes.

    No. Pascal isnt that good.

Hopkins is cherry picking because he knows stylistically Dawson would have been the tougher opponent.

Hopkins is cherry picking the man at 175lbs in his 40s.

A 46 year old former middleweight is cherrypicking the 27 year old The Ring light-heavyweight champion.

    Lovely stuff.

Yes its easy to see. When Dawson was unofficially considered the man Hopkins didnt want any part of him. Now that Pascal won Hopkins jumps at the first chance he gets.

Pascal style plays into Hopkins hands. Hopkins wont have to be the aggressor and merely wait for the numerous mistakes Pascal makes when he's attacking, not to mention Pascals penchant for gassing.

Against Dawson he'd have had a bigger guy with a jab who doesnt initiate contact. Not Hopkins style.

Clear cherry pick. Honestly I thought this was common knowledge by now. Everyone said so when the fight was announced.

no because I don't rank Pascal that highly and I expect B-Hop to beat him. In terms of resume I already rank him higher than Jones or Mayweather, in terms of how I rank them all time (not just resume but how dominant they were) I rank him behind Jones and Mayweather.

You don't cherry-pick anyone when you are 46. You earn the chance to pick your fights. 46 Hop vs any top LHW would be a tough fight regardless of style. Big balls B-Hop. I just hope he doesn't cry foul the whole fight or get KTFO. Please Hop, come out looking to Execute!
