This would be a horrible fight and Hopkins isn't a power puncher either .

Yeah, BHOP would have beaten him, and I think he would have won more decisively than Jones.
The problem with the fight would have been Hopkins being able to make weight, naturally.
Hopkins is a clean guy, meaning I don't think his mentality or religion allows him to take short cuts using drugs that Jones may have been more open to.
Hopkins would have had to put on the weight more slowly while conditioning to allow himself to perform at that greater weight.
It would have been much harder for Hopkins to gain and then lose weight from SMW to HW and then back from HW back down to LHW then it was for Jones.

He'd have a decent chance of beating Ruiz in his prime. That's not because Hopkins is that good but Ruiz is that bad.

Toney showed that Jones Jr win over Ruiz wasn't so special. Toney stood in front off Ruiz for long periods and still came out on top.

I think Hopkins could be agile enough and quick enough to win a decision. I mean if 2 other former middle weights could do it why not prime Hopkins.

How can you win more decisively than completely shutting a guy out?

This is really the long and short of it.

He'd be the one getting tied up and manhandled and worked on the inside. And not being able to hurt Ruiz wouldn't deter Ruiz and the hugs.

Ruiz Probably would have out muscled him.
RJJ was not having any clinch fest, and his footwork, and handspeed beat Ruiz.

    Exactly!!!

Bhop doesn't have the speed (Hand or Foot) to avoid that

Hopkins isn't exactly a bum either, 2 weight champion, one of the great middleweights and one of the best defensive fighters of his generation.

Ruiz was a weak champion who twice lost to former middle weights, is it that big a stretch of the imagination that one of the great middle weights could repeat their feat.
