Guys with much worse resume's and much weaker accomplishment have been ranked within that range. I bet most people have either Pac or Floyd there. Why wouldn't BHop be?

Hopkins is waaaay overated
The Zombie Shumenov made his day and helps him in hyping more sub-quality fights

Why in the world would anyone put Cleverly first on that list?

Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev when Kovalev was his mandatory, so Kovalev had to go to Cleverly's home turf and knock him out to win a title..................then HBO was promoting a Kovalev/Stevenson fight, when asked, Kovalev said he wanted to fight Adonis, when Adonis was asked if he wanted to fight Kovalev, he changed the subject, then ran to Showtime rather than fight Kovalev. When Kovalev became Hopkin's mandatory he was calling Hopkins out, he couldn't wait to fight Hopkins, but Hopkins refused to fight him, it's no secret.....................SO NOW HOPKINS IS SAYING HE WILL FIGHT ANYONE BUT KOVALEV........................

 

The truth of the matter is that if Hopkins makes Sergey fight his fight the russian doesn't have magical skills to make something unexpected happen. Roy back in 1993 broke a 12 or 13 year winning streak b'cause he had lightning speed and multiple punches coming out of the ropes accurately which scored and won rounds. Sergey can't even keep Nard at bay like Chad did in their second fight because he doesn't punch that fast and in those Sharp combos. He's not a swarmer, endless stamina Calzaghe either. So it makes one wonder, are people expecting him to hit Hopkins clean and often and do not get hit?

I endorse this. I'm a huge fan of Kovalev and think Stevensons a very dangerous fighter but really a year ago both were fringe contenders and outside of the fights you mention they've not done enough to bump even an aged Hopkins far up the ATG lists (the achievement of unifying the his second division would likely be looked upon by posterity as more significant than just who he beat to do it - 'less either Segei or Adonis becomes a great themselves).

Hopkins is already an ATG and becoming undisputed at LHW would certainly not harm his ranking, but ain't gonna put him in any top ten IMO.

I would rate him much higher than now. But, Bernard won't do it. I doubt he will even take the fights.

 

That poster you quoted is a massive ***** and hates the idea of anyone other than Floyd getting credit. If past-prime victories didn't factor into ATG statuses, the ATG list would look a helluva lot different.

Foreman, Moore, Ali, Robinson, Leonard are all touted as highly as they are for what they were able to accomplish later in their careers. The idea that being 50 years old and still beating the best in your division is ABSOLUTELY a mark of greatness, but I wouldn't expect a ***** to understand that.

 

He would be the underdog in both fights. Shumenov was the first title holder in years whom Hopkins was favoured against by the bookies.

And lets not forget that it would be the third time Hopkins becomes the lineal champ at LHW and for the third time he would be the underdog.
