people who remember me know I'm a huge Hopkins fan. yet and still I'm half expecting Joe to win there upcomming fight. but what if Hopkins does win? what then?will anyone give him the credit he deserves? when he beat Tito there was no respect. when he beat allen,Eastman,De La Hoya it was no respect. when he beat Tarver he beat up an old man, when he beat Wright he beat up the smaller fighter.....so what do you say Hopkins Haters? if he pulls this off will you finaly respect him?
I don't see him winning at 43 years old, but if he does, i gotta give it to him that he is a definate ATG. Beating such a great fighter at 43 is very, very rare.
I respect Hopkins already. I consider him the second Archie Moore. If Bernard beats Calzaghe, I will consider Archie Moore the first Benard Hopkins.
Dont be daft Dan. If Hopkins does the impossible and wins LEGITAMATELY ( :hey ), then he will be considered a massiah but most on here, including myself. Any doubt people may have in comparing him with the true greats will be evaporated instantly!:good
Of course he'll get credit, I honestly believe this is his most difficult fight since RJJ and Hopkins is old as hell. He's a low-class dirtbag but you've got to give credit where it's due, Calzaghe is for real.
All depends on what you mean by winning. If he clearly beats Calzaghe then he has prevailed over one of the best boxers in the world. If he gets a lucky decision then Hopkins isn't likely to get much respect.
yes but not by hugging and running **** type of tactic... kind of annoying he keeps on doing it and getting away :fire
Yeah - he'll get the credit for the win. Just like he got the credit after the Tito and Tarver fights. Not many gave Winky much of a chance - since he was jumping 2 weight classes. However, with Calzaghe being in the Higher Weight Division ruling, while B-Hop was ruling one Weight Class below ruling - will make this more of a fair match up. There's not a lot of talk about who's the bigger or stronger man. The main agruement you hear is Speed and Work-Rate. So - if Hopkins does win - he'll get the credit for beating a Great Super Middleweight and stopping an Undefeated Record. It will be the type of credit that is earned.
If Hopkins wins, it's a bigger accomplishment than if Calzaghe wins, no? Being that Calzaghe is EXPECTED to win (or maybe I'm wrong there)... If Hopkins, at 43, could beat a legitimate top 5 p4per after all he's done in his career thus far... then he gets ALL the credit in the world.
It jumps him up to an automatic top 20 ATG positioned fighter, as he's generally regarded as a 40-ish ATG now. Calzaghe is a supernatural elite, not quite Roy Jones Jr prime, but at 43 for Hopkins', it's about like fighting a prime Roy Jones at several extra disadvantages stylistically. Calzaghe easily would be the best fighter he ever beat if he were to win, and by A LOT. To do so at 43 says a lot about a fighter. However, keep dreaming, I'm picking Hopkins to get embarassed and stopped.
I don't see how bhop's credibility is in question. :huhHe is one of the top fighters of the 90's and the new millinieum. As far as respect goes, other fighters respect his ability. If they don't right now it is because he in cohoots with DLH and GBP. A lot of people can't see the line between bhop the business man and bhop the fighter. Any fighter that judges wrong usually ends up something like this--->:!: beat up with a smile on their face from the payday.
