I already made millions, can live a life of luxury and supermodels. I can continue to pay the fighters mcdonald wages and keep making more money cuz UFC shows will continue to sell as we are universally recognized as the main MMA organization. Coulture leaving will only do minimal damage until a new superstar arrive in the scene (Lesnar maybe), in the mean time I still got Silva and Jackson to keep the fans happy. I already own most of the big names and have them all by the nutsacks in contract, who cares about M-1, they only got a few names, who else do they got? They can't make a show out of fighting each other over and over. They will eventually lose more money than earn and die out like Pride did and then I will acquire the remainder fighters as well. Everyone can continue to ***** and whine how I run UFC but all their money belongs to me. Muahaha /Dana mode off
The thing is.. Its pretty clear Dana has international intentions. You can't treat your fighters like ****.. Check this out.. Dana has made MMA mainstream, he made it possible for the sport to be popular in the States which is an important base because of the amount of money we tend to spend on entertainment.. This is key.. He didn't just put the UFC on the map.. He put MMA and many fighters along with it on the map, which makes it possible for another organization to just piggy back on what Dana has done and acquire some popular fighters.. Once this happens, people will tune in to watch rival organizations, because loyalties arent to the organization, its to the form of entertainment and the fighters. If M-1 plays their cards right, they could acquire guys from team quest, friends of Couture and guys that Dana has upset.. Barnette for example.. M-1 only has to slightly pander to the American audience to get ppv sales, having an event in the states once or twice a year. The rest can be done in Japan or Russia. Bigger checks and better treatment will attract big names. M-1 could build their organization on top of Dana's foundation.
It's not gonna happen, M-1 will be like all the rest of mma org, small fish. I (Dana) will see it happen and whenever I spot a potential superstar, I will buy them out, just as I do with any popular fighters and just pay the rest like **** to maintain a high profit margin. UFC will be an international name as I expand and eat the other organizations along the way. /Dana mode off again
If org's like M1 decide to pay or over pay guys that migrated from the UFC that couls be disaster as well. Bodog didn't do very well in the ppv numbers with lindland and Fedor. So if M1 thinks they can give out big contracts and have Fedor fighting has beens they could find themselves in the red tape.Don't forget Fedor isn't exactly a house hold name in the states.
Exactly, M-1 can't survive on Fedor alone, even if they can manage to bring along a couple of names like Barnett and Coulture, they will lose steam fast as soon as these guys fight each other, they will have nothing left to sell. Who wants to keep watching Fedor Barnett III, IV, VI... noone. Once they realize they aren't making the money they had hope to, they will disband. A successful Organization is one where they have many name fighters as well as a system to create new stars, and right now UFC is the only one that can do that since Pride is no longer competing.
unfortunantly all true. my fondest hope is the freittas's dump his ass and the ufc becomes even bigger than it is now, then maybe dana would think twice how he came across as a ***** and foul mouthed punk all the time, and regret it.
Dana is paying much more than McDonald's wages. Also, I for one... don't want to see all of the fighters making the sort of money that boxers make. Fighters get A LOT less hungry, stop wanting bigger fights, the fights themselves get watered down... and they are making plenty of money right now anyways. Look at the Fedor situation. He already has loads of money, and huge money offers. If he wasn't making so much money, we would have seen Fedor vs Couture by now... because there would have been big money in it, and Fedor would have been searching for the payday.
Your talking out of your ass, the top fighter's in mma are the only ones making anykind off decent money, do you think that getting 2000-6000 bucks for appearing in a ufc ppv is good money???
Yes... when that is only what the UFC payed you out of their pocket. As they have it set up to where they hook their fighters up with sponsers, who give them good damn money as well. It is a smart system that Zuffa has going on right now. They are using advertising to the max, and many sponsers are paying HUGE bucks to be plastered all over their ring, fighters, and events. Remember, these guys are going in there and fighting. They could find in some lower level event and get paid a couple hundred dollars if they want to. It isn't as if these guys are forced to fight for that money. It is an opportunity to represent yourself, and make yourself known. I know that if I was fighting in some lower level main event, making 200 bucks, and some UFC rep came and offered me 3 grand to fight on the undercard of their UFC PPV, I would accept the offer before they finished the sentence.
Right, cause Couture is so modest and only wants to keep going with UFC. Fedor is the culprit. Get off the damn bandwagon.
The top ufc fighter's get good sponsorship money, the guy's on the bottom of the ladder aren't making good money. I don't think you understand how **** there money really is, all sports stars get sponsorship money micheal jordan used to get about 10 times his basketball wage from nike. How does saying they get sponsoship money justify paying a guy a few thousand bucks when the companys raking the cash in. For instance ufc 60 quite along time ago got 24.7 million gross revenue in pay per view buys and over 3 million in gate receits, this doesn't include extras like merchandise etc, yet the disclosed fighter pay out lay was 740,000 dollars. You find me another sport where they pay so little to the stars in comparison to ther sports turnover, you can't. Also just becuase someone makes **** money in one org and the ufc offer's them slightly less **** money why does that make it right???
It's capitalism though - all in all things will be settled, if they aren't now. If UFC fighters really only got $2K two or three times a year, then none of them would be fighting. I'm SURE Zuffa is paying them in ways that the state athletic commissions do not have to have reported, anyways.
I don't think you seem to understand, all sports stars get more than there basic wages football players get bonuses etc but their starting wage is still a **** load higher.
You are missing the point. The guys who are getting the horrible 2 or 3 thousand dollar paydays, are guys who aren't putting any asses in the seats. These guys are basically getting a better payday than they would fighting in a lesser org, AND getting a chance to showcase themselves in the UFC. I sure as hell don't feel bad for ANY FIGHTER who is lucky enough to land on a UFC PPV card. I don't care how much he is paid. There are plenty of fighters out there who would do it for FREE, in order to try for their big break. The guys putting the asses in the seats, and making the UFC that big money are well paid. Which makes sense... that is the way that it should be.
