If I was Haye I'd push for 70% against Wlad.

Both events were HEAVILY promoted based on Harrison headlining - the increase in viewership was certainly due to Harrison.

Again nobody is trying to claim that Haye wasn't a bigger star than Harrison. But you're argument that nobody was willing to pay for Harrison completely misses the point. Haye cannot draw the big buys and the big money by himself, he needs a gimmick to bounce off against. Haye just being the champion and making a defence against Ruiz didn't connect with the public one bit and got very little media coverage. Harrison gave him and Sky the hook to promote the fight to the general public. If Harrison wasn't a draw against Haye then the fight would never have been made. Haye and Sky knew he would draw which is why they made the fight even though Harrison didn't deserve to challenge.

    You're an idiot.

My list of fighters that I'll go out of my way to watch right now:

PBF, Pac, Khan, Froch, Martinez, Donaire, Cleverly, DeGale, Vitali, Burns, Lopez, Gamboa etc etc, point being NOT HAYE.

For example I've never accused K2 of ducking like all Haye fans have over this Chisora deal, that's a typical Haye fan move.

However I'm not going to jump on the "ducking" and "chicken" bandwagon when I see things differently. I pick both brothers to beat Haye, I've never paid for a Haye PPV, hell I didn't follow his career until Mormeck.

But that's typical of you pathetic Klitschko fans, jumping to conclusions just because someone doesn't agree with you, coming out with the old cliched to **** "Haye came out making promises" bull**** :dead. Hardcore Haye fans are just as pathetic btw.

Arthur, you questioned my boxing knowledge before yet when I asked you a very simple question, you didn't answer, so let me ask again. Who is in my avatar?

Hold up I never said that, I said Harrison was obviously always going to sell more than Ruiz. But people watching for free and people paying are two completely different beasts.

Haye of course. He's the champion who'd beaten the giant and did a good job on old shot Ruiz. I'm pretty sure most who didn't watch live would have watched it later and been impressed. All fresh in peoples minds. What about Harrison? 274k freeviews against Sprott? 314k prizefighter? His name was known but people truely couldn't care less.

As a country we're pretty big on heavyweight champions courtesy of Lewis.

Imagine a promotion where only one fighter was allowed on camera to speak to the potential audience, you think Harrison would draw 800k ppvs? No way, but I believe Haye would still get there or fall just short without Harrison opening his mouth. Valuev wasn't a name, I don't recall a single interview with him, 800k. Ruiz, and old shot to bits fighter 400k (thereabouts). Harrison couldn't draw those numbers to save his life.

If you were to seperate it into % how much credit do you give Harrison for the 800k? What about Haye?

I don't think you can argue Harrison added more than 10-20% of the PPV buys and even those were people who were paying to see him get knocked out.

One question though: Is it possible that Haye/Harrison would do bigger numbers than Haye/Wlad or Haye/Vitali? I think the Wlad fight would be bigger but I'm not sure a Vitali bout would be. Vitali is FAR less marketable in Britain than his brother is.

There was no sell point for Ruiz, zero, "the quietman" isn't exactly a great angle, Haye couldn't work it. Unless you have a nation behind you following blindly (Pacquiao) you need to find another approach. Haye has taken the loud mouth direction and it's working fine for him. 400k for Ruiz isn't bad, I doubt he could get anywhere close to those numbers fighting in the US, the reason it did alright is Haye.

Of course they were. He came out of the olympics and was all over terestrial TV, before everything turned sour.
Very few boxers in history have been able to draw against no name fighters, Tyson is pretty much the exception, but they need to have something to work against.

But like I said above if only one fighter was allowed to speak during promotion (daft idea but it's to make a point) Harrison would sell far less than 800k, Haye would get close. Ali, Leonard, Mayweather etc have all shown what an arrogant loud mouth can achieve.

There's paying to see Harrison vs Haye and paying to see Haye vs Harrison, very few paid to see Harrison vs Haye (if you catch my drift).

With Vitali TV shows would be littered with Vitali vs Lewis, the call out from Wlad, Vitali calling Haye a ***** etc. Both brothers could use the others situation with Haye. It would sell well Jack but I agree Wlad would do more, not by much though.

And as I've already told you...until you can provide some proof for the Ruiz figure I don't believe it.

Haye vs. Harrison was a package. Harrison is not a draw outside of a match with Haye because he's not good enough to get into a big match. Haye gave him the big match because he knew that Haye vs. Harrison was one of the three most marketable fights he could make. If Harrison is providing the angle then he is making an important contribution to the success of the match. Its very much like the argument for Khan vs. Prescott II - Prescott is not a draw but against Khan he would be because he holds a victory over Khan.

Anyone who sat through the stomach churning build for the Haye-Harrison fight cannot deny that they were focusing on both fighters far more than either of Haye's previous two sky fights and Harrison was getting a lot of coverage in the press. This attempt to pretend that Harrison was just another challenger who barely added anything to the commercial success of the show is ludicirious.

And Haye doesn't work in a vaccum. His promoter is actually Sky who ensure he gets loud coverage in the Sun and on Sky Sports. The BBC and the rest of the press inevitably follow, allowing Murdorch to dictate the agenda as they always do. Froch is just as charismatic, is exciting to watch and is fighting better opponents but without the Sky machine is nowhere near as commercially successful in the UK. The naivety of some of the people in this thread is remarkable.

I have no idea what the **** you're talking about now.

Haye is the champ and Harrison the challenger. So yes Haye is the protagonist and Harrison is the antagonist. Haye is the leading man and Harrison the villian. No one was arguing that. The point was that Haye needs gimmicks like Harrison, like Valeuv to draw on ppv. If he doesn't have those gimmicks he can't secure the big bucks...particularly if he's forced to fight the likes of Povetkin or Chagev. That's a big problem for his future earning potential.

Vitali is probably the more marketable in the UK because you have all that footage of the Lewis, Hide and Williams fights.

:huh were did you get that number, 5 million, at hayes fan website.

40000 seats alone is 2 million, an i am just assume that 50 dollars is the average, i am sure 100 dollars would not be far off, i went to the khan fight in vegas, had good seats, an paid a 150 (but not great), an this event had alot of empty seats. Saying this, i still got to believe with the USSR (former of course courtrys), were there very famous, they get good advertisement money for there live TV fights. So with this money, even know the currancy is weaker over there, your still talking about a population bigger then the US watching. Now your saying 3 million from german TV rights, plus now were talking about the advertisements, the brothers are the biggest draw, so i got to say a million, more then likly more, but lets say a million.....
2 million gate (more then likly more)
    3 german tv
    1 advertisement
    3 forgein tv rights

9 million,,,,,,now peters no way got 4 million dollars, so lets say he got what is more then likly 1 million, lets be nice a million a half...well that leaves 7 an half for wlad, give or take. :good

now will hayes bring more money to the table, sure i don't see why he wouldn't, but more money then wlad, well let say he sells a million buys or even 2 million, then with that money, after sky gets its cut, which is more then likly 50%, lets say there left with another 10 million dollars to split, so 5 for wlad, 5 for hayes, right, well now take wlads 9 million, split that in half, you get 9.5 million for each one OK......so for dicking around with hayes for two years, playing this sissy head games, he earns a extra 2 million, yes that is alot, but if wlad fights three times this year instead of the two fights he would get with hayes ONLY july fight, he would make million less, about 5

Now i want this fight, but i also would like to see wlad stay active as a fan of his, i still remember all the BS hayes pulled in 2009, why should wlad take time off of building his legacy, with title defense agaisnt guys that are willing to sign, for some guy who is going to be knocked out before the 5th.. I mean at the end of the day, hayes is about money. I mean barrett put down, what do you think wlad will do to him.

Every top 10 HW out there has a good shot against Haye. He is a limited, one dimensional fighter.

Povetkin would likely beat him SD. 70\30 odds giving Haye a generous 30% punchers chance.

    Adamek UD Haye 10/10 fights.

I know all the Haye fans hate hearing "the same old brainless ****", because they are the inconvenient facts.

Klitschkos and their fans are not bowing to kiss Haye's ass because nobody gives a **** about Haye and his schedule. He thinks the world is sitting on the edge of its seat waiting on his next move.

The truth is, if he didn't have the WBA belt, nobody including K2 would even be talking to the guy. Everyone is making it out like he's a big threat KO puncher, but he's only won 3 outright KO's and they were against guys under 200lbs..except for one guy who had a record of 15-13-1.

    Hardly K2 level competition.

All the talk about him being a dangerous threat are insane.

People were excited about that fight almost 2 years ago, and Haye has turned it into a soap opera.

The only time Haye wants to fight is when Wlad has a fight lined up, then he calls him out and says he's ducking. :patsch

I can see Haye/Vitali doing less than Haye/Valuev, certainly. I'd guess around 700-900,000. With Wlad, I think anything from 1.1-1.3m is to be expected.
