Yep. Pack it in. If you can’t be the very best at your profession, might as well find a new job. Speaking of which, I need to type out my resignation letter tonight.

 

I don't think Canelo will stay in the weight class indefinitely. Plant could still pick up a strap later on down the road. I actually thought he was doing pretty well in the early rounds outboxing Canelo. I didn't think he'd pick up as many rounds as he did. He is still young and has a desire to fight. You don't need to be the best to keep fighting, sometimes you just want to see how far your best goes.

 

Who is OP to say what constitutes a meaningful legacy?

So the vast, vast, vast majority of fighters will never be hailed P4P Picasso. Doesn't mean they can't build a creditable body of work, to look back on with satisfaction, for as long as they possess the desire to fight.

 

He is still able. He can fight Benavidez and others.

 

If the OP means that he’ll never have a payday like this again? Probably. He’s not a huge draw. Someone mentioned Cotto, but Cotto was a good draw his whole career.

Kelly Pavlik for all his issues, the reason he can have such a fluid conversation on a show like Joe Rogan is cause he hung them up at around the same age

I'd again advice if I were anywhere near Plant for him to take whatever money he has earnt and do the same.
