His mental health problems (likely exacerbated by his career) and actions are the reasons he did not make it. Sexually assaulting women and permanently hurting a 15 year old are more than just a 'quick temper'. He is unlikely to have had the health and consistency over an extended period needed to make a successful run. Also when someone is that ill and hurting people does a successful boxing career really matter?

Freddie you being in the UK only saw of Ike what the media said which is not the real story at all. Ike was only accused of attempted **** that hooker was not touched or hurt in any wayat all. It was a he said she said deal
When she gave evidence she claimed she " Only claimed to dance for him nothing else " If you believe that then I feel sorry for you. A Vegas hooker goes to a mans hotel room just to dance ???? C'mon man.
As for hurting that boy, he idolized Ike. The crash that unfortunately happened was deemed an accident but
based on other matters they suspected he may have deliberately tried to commit suicide. Ike denied that entirely
I knew Ike from the day he walked into Curtis gym & said : I'm going to be World Heavyweight Champ do you want to be part of it" ? Curtis grinned said " Lets see what you've got then" Curtis worked with him & transformed him into the complete boxer puncher.

I think he would KO Grant too, but the point is, that is all hindsight. We now that now. Doesn't mean he didn't prefer fighting guys who were 5'10" to 6'0".

It will always be a question mark. My biggest hesitation about Ibeabuchi’s potential was that apparently he was a head case and that doesn’t always make for the best endings. In fact, it didn’t. That said, the man did show that he had great power and durability. My guess is he probably could have gone on to being a very solid contender and perhaps even a champion.

So now you knew Ike Ibeabuchi? Given that you are an anonymous couple of initials on an internet forum, that's impossible to prove so will ignore it except to say so what? Does that mean he did not do the things he did? Hard to know how to respond to this post as it basically denies everything he did. Ibeabuchi was not a well person and perhaps to some extent was let down by those around him (the promoters and managers) who did not do more to get him help. I guess money was more important. There was also the interview with Tim Graham where he showed a pretty messed up attitude to women. There were more reports of assault cases too, other incidents of trouble caused by mental health issues plus the kid he permanently hurt. It seems a combination of factors his mental health problems, terrible attitude to women plus quite likely damage incurred in the Tua fight.

Will leave it here as can't see the point in further responses.

I was around him at that time & never ever heard anything about a Grant fight let alone Ike turning it down. I cannot conceive Ike turning down any fight let alone one with Grant. Just look what Lennox did with Grant
Remember David Tua was hailed as the next Tyson & I was ridiculed when I suggested Ike would beat him
Different story the next day lol
