If Iran Barkley had gotten a decision against Duran (picking up the WBC belt) and Nunn (picking up the IBF belt), then lost in the same brutal fashion to Nigel Benn in a unification fight, would you: a) think more of him as a fighter? Duran was of course moving up way above his natural weight. and had he won the decision against Nunn, it would have been pretty controversial I think. that said, it's 2 more wins over hall of famers (bonafide ATGs) and unifying 2 MW belts before losing in a 3 belt unification. b) think Iran Barkley deserves to be in the IBHoF? He'd have wins against Hearns x2, Duran and Nunn as well as wins over solid fighters like Van Horn, Kinchen and Olajide. I could see arguments either way I just think it's interesting how a few close decisions could go the other way and a fighter's legacy looks way different.
I loved Barkley. The guy came to fight and took his lumps. His fight with Duran is one of my favourites.
