Do we need to argue about 'sportsmalike behaviour in boxing - yes or no' here?

We all know that Ortiz behaved like a dirty punk. Nor did I ever defend him for this. But Cortez took care of business (for once) and penalized Ortiz for his bullcrap. Still, the headbutt happened, but does this justify Mayweather to turn to dirty tactics himself? Hell no. He didn't need to lower himself on a 'streetfight' level. Mayweather never needed to turn to dirty tactics to win his fights, nor would he have needed to do it this time. But Floyd decided to grab the cheap KO, and as a boxing fan I feel cheated.

On a sidenote, Joe Cortez again proved that he is one of the worst referees in the sport. The amount of controversial fights he's involved in is unacceptable.

I can only agree with you, as a boxing fan I feel cheated by both men, but especially by Mayweather. These were some damn cheap shots and a dirt cheap 'win'. People pay for a boxing fight, so they should at least get a boxing fight.

If I want to see a street fight, all I have to do is go out on my street and look for trouble. At least I'm a get my adrenoline rush first hand then. And I'm a get to see blood for free. But that's not what I'm looking for in a BOXING fight.

I would still condemn it but I would probably rub it on the *****s. A cheapshot is a cheapshot. It's definition does not change.

My dislike for Mayweather has never been hidden but a Headbutt is way cheaper than the punches he threw and the ref did say fight.

Ortiz was looking for way out I think ,there was time between the two punhces to get his hands up or move his head.

As to it being OK the other way , mibbe so , Mayweather is held to a high standard alright.

anyway it wasnt the most sporting thing ever done , but Ortiz started it.

And thats from a Money " hater "

Ortiz set the tone and took it to the streets, he butted through out the fight than after the big butt he threw his OWN ILLEGAL sucker punches, Floyd simply kept his cool and retaliated within the rules.

Phoney May has taken EVERY cheapshot opportunity and exploited it to the fullest. If he sees his opponents hands down, whether in a break or whatever, he's throwing. PERIOD. Especially when the other fighter could KHTFO, like Mosely, Gatti, and Ortiz could.

yea more people would have been mad if it happened the other way around cause ortiz was losing every single round of the fight, and would've needed a cheap shot most likely to win the bout.

Floyd jr's fans supported him for cleaning the sport & supported him for being dishonorable by throwing a cheap punch... Go figure where they really stand...
