If it was Usyk that landed that body shot on Dubois or any other fighter and it had been called low, then Usyk fans on ESB would’ve been in absolute pandemonium saying it was legal. It has to be acknowledged that there is corruption in boxing, from bad scorecards, to bad stoppages and PED cheats etc. Last night we saw more corruption with the low blow call. Pabon who is Usyks personal referee ala Floyd and Uncle Kenny, needs to be banned from boxing.

It would have been a footnote, because Dubois still would have quit in the end. Only, maybe sooner.

I don't think so - I think this is underdog dynamics at play.

Rightly or wrongly, most of us love it when a plucky underdog gets the win, so IMHO it's to be expected that there are posters predisposed to give DDD the call here.

Part of the reason, then, could just be that a lowblow derived TKO is basically the only chance Dubois really had of winning that and satisfying the love of the underdog storyline.

If a dominant Usyk had gotten a lowblow called in exactly the same fashion it probably wouldn't be massively controversial, even though it'd be the wrong call, because it'd be irrelevant to the fact he was going to win anyway.

If Dubois had somehow been dominating, and won the fight later on anyway, then nobody would really be talking about the lowblow call because it wouldn't have affected the outcome AND it's not really an egregious call - we've all seen worse ones not given, but that doesn't mean this one shouldn't have been.

If Dubois had been somehow dominating as the underdog and then Usyk had hit him with a lowblow and had it given TKO... Then all hell would break loose - because not only would it spoil a deserved win for the underdog, but it's easy to attack it as an incorrect call if it's permitted.

To all that are claiming that Dubois was robbed or making the low blow a big deal, would you have preferred it that Dubois was a 3 belt world champion? A guy who routinely will quit when the going gets tough? Who only came alive after a 4 minute break, but was stilled backed up by the end of that round?
Just be glad that the fight went on and it was conclusive, we could’ve waited another 6-12 months for a Dubois and Usyk rematch.
