    In place of Ingemar Johansson?

Would Cleveland have battered Patterson to?
Or would Floyd have gone in with more respect for the other guys power and fought differently?

Patterson, but both have glass jaw so anything is possible.

I lean towards Floyd losing again.

Patterson s defensive flaws and his tendency to getting hit coming in would be a massive risk against William s.
Even if Floyd had come in and being cautious, eventually he'd have tried taking out Cleveland, and being nailed hard.
Sorry to say but I don't see Floyd getting past the 3 rd

Not sure Williams had what I'd describe as a glass jaw.
Getting KOd by Liston doesn't mean you have a weak chin.

He was stopped by anyone good he faced, hell even a LHW Satterfield stopped knocked him inside 3 rounds, that is what I call a glass jaw and he had it.

    And what was Williams defense?

Floyd was very fast and had good defense, only bad punch for him is uppercut which Williams did not had in his arsenal.

Williams on the other hand had no defense, had weak chin and was one handed, so I pick Patterson to win.

Floyd could be vulnerable at times, and he was knocked down quite a few times.
Not sure Ingo caught him with the uppercut?

Ingo caught him with right hand, Cleve doesn't have right hand or uppercut.
His best punches were left hook and jabs, Floyd would dodge that easily.

It’s hard to determine what Pattersons psychology would be. Given that Cleveland Williams was a well known contender in the United States it’s probable that Floyd wouldn’t have been complacent. But on the flip side would he have been intimidated instead ? Not sure .

You do realize that Sonny Liston nailed Floyd with left hook?

It’s also not true, that Williams didn’t have a right hook or uppercut if one has even a cursory look of the Liston bout.

Someone go down to the Looney bin where Curley Lee is, and tell him Willisms doesn’t have an uppercut. That was the blow that scrambled his brain, retired him, and made him go on to kill his family.

One of the dumbest arguments I’ve seen on this site. Foreman wasn’t as good as Ali yet that didn’t seem to matter comparing their respective results against Norton.

It’s also not proven at all that Ingo was better than Williams.

That was finishing punch, he caught him with uppercut.

And some people claiming that Williams are more than one trick pony are delusional, he was one handed with no defense and no chin, Floyd was much better and more complete fighter.

Yes Floyd did worse against Liston but he also did better against Chuvalo and Ali unlike Williams.
