I agree with 99% of this post, but i do think Joe will fight Kelly if they both come through their upcoming fights, it might have to be in Cardiff tho. Remember he asked to keep his WBO title then refused Roys offer to fight for both titles, cant help but think he has a plan of sorts.
I honestly hope you're right. However, it would not surprise me to see Joe retire after Jones, or pull some bull**** like telling Pavlik he'll fight if they do it in Cardiff at 175 on 6 weeks notice.
That sounds to me like a "Pavlik by wide UD and it wont even be as hard as some people think" prediction would sound to you. Anyway that's your opp. Like booradley said, I hope he does fight Pavlik. As for the thread's question, I'm between Joe SD and Kelly TKO, leaning to the latter.
Right now this poll is running just about like the polls before the first Taylor fight. Roughly 70-30. The big differnece between JT and slappy joe is that Taylor actually fought Pavlik instead of just talking about it.
Because Calzaghe always seems to start slow, and then makes adjustments: against Kessler, Hopkins, etc.
booradley, you are certifiably insane. I don't mind your analysis for a Pavlik win from his strengths viewpoint, but all that rubbish on Calzaghe's offence being "sloppy", his defence "porous". A guy with terrible offence and defence has been this successful? Come on, wake the **** up you are smarter than that.
First of all, **** your sweet ****all...:good I merely pre-empted any possible objection based on size. That said, Kessler ain't ****in Pavlik. Thus, even if Booradely's blueprint is exactly, precisely, the blueprint that Kessler used in his failure, it doesn't mean (IMO) that Kelly Pavlik will fail with it as well. And I didn't ask for a bigger win than Taylor on Kessler's resume. I asked for a better one. I would love to see Kessler - Taylor or (depending on what he looks like against Lacy) Taylor - Calzaghe or Pavlik - Kessler ,as well. Maybe those guys can mix it up w/Dawson and Glenn Johnson as well. hopefully with things heating up between 160 and 175 there'll be alot of cross-pollination. :thumbsup
Are you telling me that a guy who only landed 28% against a frightened Kessler is technically proficient? Or are you relying on the infamous doggy paddle combos he threw against BHop and Manfredo? Joe's offense is sloppy. His speed and willingness to just keep throwing has allowed him to get away with it up to now. And he certainly is not exactly a defensive wizard. Decent head movement and a good chin has allowed him to overcome the deficiencies, but he ain't no Sweet Pea that's for damn sure.
