If it is true that Evander uses PEDs, then he has no heart. Not in the way you think

Yes PEDs do boost everything, including heart, although heart is also mental. Holyfield isn't the only top boxer PED'ing and every boxer is looking to gain an edge 1 way or another, legal or illegal

Holyfield was/is pretty surely on PEDs. Apart from the large amount of circumstantial evidence, there was the Evan Fields bit where he picked up the phone when they rang him for a huge amount of hormones.

For me, it doesn't really change much, for two reasons:
    1. His opponents may have been using them as well, for all we know;
    2. He was still fighting with physical disadvantages - at heavyweight.

WTF! I never learned that secret before, what i've missed out on... !

I believe he was using some type of narcotic, that could explain why he had heart trouble in the 3rd Bowe fight, maybe the roids or hormones or whatever he was using caused his heart rate to speed up and damn near explode.

This is why i really don't think Manny Pacquiao is on PEDS either.

Isnt this why he was an underdog against Tyson in the first place? because of his "heart scare" which was magically then cured after he beat Tyson

"Evan Fields", come on Evander couldnt you think of anything better
Cheating c*nt.....still a good fighter though.

There's too much to speculate over for me to express any kind of opinion on the matter. If Holyfield was using performance enhancing drugs, then I'd have no doubt that it accounted for much of his physcial capabilities, but I would never question the genuineness of his heart.

I really don't want to take anything away from the legendary Holyfield, I rate him very highly - #6 ATG Heavyweight and #1 ATG at Cruiserweight.

However I believe that from around 1994 (Moorer I) onwards he has been on a PED for most of his fights (In certain ones it's far more noticeable), likely HGH. Evander's 1994 collapsed left ventricle of the heart linked to HGH use, the Evan Fields incident, muscle mass (including it's gain), literally superhuman durability & recovery ability are suspicious. Thing is, I doubt Holy will ever be truly proved guilty, becuase HGH is even now, still almost impossible to test for. I won't hold it against his incredible HW legacy, unless he is proven to be a PED user.

Well, Stoney, that brings up a situation which is a delicate subject to many, and that's the fact that Ali attempted to use Thyrolar as exactly that, a PED when he challenged Holmes, doubling his dose without telling anyone when he discovered it improved his speed and reflexes if taken as prescribed, only to have it backfire on him, then use that deliberate attempt at deception as an excuse for his defeat and poor performance.

This would be akin to Holyfield saying that his cardiovascular malfunction during Moorer I was caused by steroid abuse (possibly the truth), and that he therefore deserved a second chance to show how much better he could do without steroids. (Since retirement, Ali has showed how he performed his magic tricks after demonstrating them to kids in honor of a Muslim precept against deception, but would we have ever heard about his attempted misuse of Thyrolar if he'd beaten Holmes?)
Qawi has been very vocal about withholding credit from Holyfield for those wins on the premise that Evander did use PEDs in order to defeat him. Should Ali be the Pete Rose of boxing? (He does have haters who believe he deserved every last bit of punishment he received from Holmes as a consequence for trying to cheat in this way. These critics opine that justice was served, although in most cases their ranks include people who wanted to see Ali trashed even before Holmes took place.)

No proof that the substance was in his system though suspicion is high. I give Holyfield all the respect in the world for a fighter and being the best CW. For opponents to say PED's are the only reason he won against them is kind of an excuse especially since Holy hasn't being proven to be on them. It's likely he was on them but no proof. It is also like Griffin saying Roy attacked him while he was taking a knee because Roy was on roids though he did seem suspicious that maybe Roy was(vid on youtube). Either way I wouldn't want any of the guys I fight/spar with to be on any PED's but I try to believe they won't be and I try to think positive. I always try to think positive but never sugarcoat bad things or the possibility of bad things happening.

In recent decades, it seems we've had an awful lot of lighter weight champions and contenders move up in weight through increased muscular bulk in a way which has no historical precedence. So many of them are remaining impressive physical specimens at an age when Archie Moore's body at least looked like that of a middle aged man, even if his performances didn't.

I think we can be reasonably confident that Michael Spinks did not abuse PEDs, or at least not to the extent we're discussing here. His physique remained largely unchanged as his weight increased by 42 pounds in three years, from Sears in 1985 to Tyson in 1988. (Most of this weight gain was apparent in his legs, thighs particularly.)

Maybe, these people will be able to forever avoid being proven as PED users the same way Florence Griffith-Joyner was-by sudden and premature death.

Well, anything codeine or morphine based is good.

You can approach supermodels and they will not smell any fear, because you just don't care.

The mental and physical are too closely linked.

The PEDS boost mental resilience too.

Evander was great. And he kept proving people wrong. And, yes, he made Tyson his *****.

    Get over it.

Agree to an extent but if you dont still push your body and be prepared to put it through hell, the PEDs are irrelevant. I've used performancing enhancing supplements and you still have to push yourself hard, the extra energy does make it more doable though
