Hopkins fought manny undefeated fighters and lots of them were considered 'safe' fights..because at the end of the day being undefeated means very little, its the level of competition you have beat and prior to his wins over Lacy and Kessler Calzaghe had very little to reccomend him as a threat. Knock out artists like Pavlik are usually feared more than merely undefeated fighteres..the king slapper of the WBO had very little in terms of style of resume that would inspire fear into American champions.

So how the hell can you claim that beating one of the top five P4P boxers in the world right now (and presumably the only one of the top five anywhere near his weight class) 'leave question marks against his resume' that would be answered by fighting someone who you consider 'untested'?

I have to say its refreshing to hear a reply that actually doesnt involve an insult being thrown.
I respect your views and dont agree with them all, however one I do agree with is the fact that we may well see a more balanced situation happening especially seeing as it seems to be the same fighters being mentioned all the time, it would be great to see the european fighters and american fighters face each other much more often.
There is far too much politics that have blighted the sport over the years and two many with too much influence like don king for example where money talks and gets what they want.
Meaning fighters who have a legitimate right to challenge for a title take a pay off or are just overlooked.
Promoters have over protected their fighter and I do accuse Frank warren of sometimes doing this and not bringing the big fights for Joe
But hopefully this new self promotion thing that boxers seem to do like Oscar delahoya and golden boy promotions and now Joe calzaghe with calzaghe promotions and roy jones also with his own company, I think if this happened more often we may well get the big fights we all want to see.
And the only pockets being lined will be the fighters and we will get the chance to see all the great matchups without corruption in the great sport.

wow...no he didnt...he wanted nothing to do with Cotto...its because of Cotto and Margo that he left the damn sport to do talk shows and wrestle

ill say he was at his best when he first started...but the second he started fighting at 140+ his record consists of

Judah (who has the will of a 6 yr old girl)
Baldomir (everyone knows this guy was a joke)
DLH (a cant pull the trigger FAR PAST IT big name)
Hatton (who had to move up in weight)

    when he dodged

PW, Clottey, Margo, Cintron, Shane, Cotto, Quintana, Torres...i mean ****...the list goes on and on...

all heavy handed pressure fighters that would've gave him hell and a brutal KO considering he had a hard time with Castillo

so you need to get off them nuts...but i will say that he is a TALENTED FIGHTER! skills that paid the bills and a persona that put asses in the stands...and seeing as how he has all this talent...its an insult that has makes so much money not fighting good fights and taking money out of our pockets with this horse**** opposition

i think your timeline is a bit of sinc with reality, Toney lost his 168 title in 94, Joe didnt win his til 97, how wouldve Toney tested him, he wasnt even a super middle at the time...?

Who else would you have tested Joe against, be careful now I dont think boxing history is your strong point...

I'm talking about if the 2 would've fought. Theis primes at 168. Joe woulda got schooled by a prime Toney

****in dammit man! how many times do i have to repeat the damn fact that Hopkins had already done what he had to ****in do to put himself at that spot when he was an up and comer himself (but i put him up there for his abilities not his record and always rising on top when hes the underdog)...now hes just ****in' old and trying to prove that age dont mean a thing when it clearly does...and read previous posts about Pavlik before you bring that **** up

so fighting someone who has the talent to put himself on that p4p list, a hungry ambition, and youthful swing in his step would prove a stronger point than fighting old men...theyre not in the mindset to try and fight hard to get that W unlike Calzaghe who needs the W so that he can go on and on as he does about how he "beats the best"

Hell my gran could have whipped Gatti that night, it was a disgrace that gatti was anywhere near a ring.
It was a set up for floyd to have a training session on gattis face.
Gatti years ago was showing signs of one too many battles, but that night against mayweather he looked like he had aged 30 years
He was a shell and mayweather should have got no credit for that night.

****IN THANK YOU!! jesus...a fighter such as the way you described...GET RESPECT!...sometimes too much (in Pavlik's case) but RESPECT nonetheless
