oh god. not another one of these "if _______ was american he'd be **** sucked....." threads. look at most p4p lists and you'll most likely see calzaghe in the top 3. pacman and pbf are certified ATG's yet gets their resumes picked apart and scrutinized here on the web. NO ONE is immune from the stupidity on the internet. once in a blue moon, you'll even get jokers here calling ali a fraud.

That is complete and utter bull****. I was involved in promotional collaborations at the time and while Roy and Joe tell you how much they wanted to fight each other back then they both ploughed divergent furrows. While Joe was defending against the likes of Thornberry, McIntyre and Pudwill without leaving the British Isles, Jones was doing the same thing by hanging HBO with his fights against Richard Frazier, David Telesco and Richard Hall. It's a fact that Jones was just as much a homeboy as Calzaghe. He spurned lucrative offers to fight Steve Collins in Dublin by instead facing Tony Thornton in his hometown of Pensacola, and declined Dariusz Michalczewski by instead fighting Glen Kelly in Miami.

None of that changes the fact that Jones woulda made him look worse than Toney!:rofl

If Joe was American, he'd be on the front page of every American newspaper...He would get more attention than Obama as President

Yep he may well have done. Doesn't change the fact that it wasn't Calzaghe alone to blame for it not happening tho.

:patsch Pathetic... Just like Hopkins was in every magazine.. Or Sugar Shane... Or Mayweather...

Being an American doesn't guarantee exposure or fans. WTF is it with you guys who think that is all it takes to be accepted? :huh

American or Welsh, with his level of comp he'd be a little more popular here, bit that doesn't mean everyone would love him or respect his record.

If an american had JC's record he would be being heralded as a ****ing mega atg. He would have been heralded as a superstar far earlier, and would be far more wealthy as a result. As it is he is just a white boy from the Welsh valleys and as a result has been written off by the fans and media of a country with their own agenda to peddle. These are the facts. If he was black and from the Bronx he would be having his nuts polished by every esb user right now, and for the past 6 years.
