If it was Lopez who rabbit punched Ortiz in the 5th would Ortiz have quit?

Gotta give props to Lopez for continuing after a blatant foul! The ref was a **** and basically telling him to hurry up and not even giving him the chance to take the 5 mins he's allowed but Lopez sucked it up. At first when he went down I thought oh great here we go... Vic blatantly fouls and the fights over, no surprise here. I thought for a moment that Lopez was gonna call it quits while he was on his knee but he showed the heart of champion and continued- much to Vic's dismay as Vic fouled on purpose to try and get a way out of a tougher than expected fight.

If the tables were turned do you think Vic would have quit? I say definitely since the foul was a way out that didn't work in his favour.....he was looking for an opportunity to get out of the fight and if he got blatantly fouled I'm sure he would have milked it for all it's worth and kept his dream of escaping the tough fight without an L alive.

Props to Lopez for being a tough muther****er who came to win at all costs or die trying!!!

Interesting now that they are saying the jaw was broken earlier. 5th or 6th round.

Yeah, I too thought Lopez was considering ending it. To me he looked really unsure - but that was before watching the replay and obviously realizing the poor guy was just in serious pain.

And did the ref really not give him a chance at the full 5? Because after being hit, I thought Lopez was told something like "Don't worry, it wasn't hard, you'll get 5 minutes and you can carry on", in an attempt urge him not to pull out. And when Lopez resumed sooner, I just thought it was his decision to do that. I didn't realize the ref never allowed him 5 minutes. That's messed up, if true.

As for whether Ortiz would have quit or not, I don't think he would have. It's worth remembering he took a **** load of hard rabbit punches from Maidana, before quitting late on. So I doubt one shot alone would have pushed him over the edge.
