I'll admit that Mayweather did obviously help (being P4P number 1 and thriving in the bad boy role helps promote any fight quite well) but i still believe it was mainly down to Oscar's and Ricky's huge fan base.

I suppose looking at the live gate numbers and PPV sales for DLH, Hatton and Mayweather fights before DLH and Hatton fought Mayweather would give a better indication of who was more popular and therefore who the fans tuned in to see for the DLH-Mayweather and Hatton-Mayweather fights.

As a general rule, ignore anything about boxing in the mainstream media of the UK.

    only because:

    1. everybody knows the outcome of FM fight and know its not worth paying the $$$ lol.

    2. Ricky Hatton is very likeable dude.

    3. Majority of people find Hattons fighting style more exciting.

OK,you never called him a bum but a fraud and a joke....Skill wise-a domestic level??? What a ****...even if you dont rate him as highly as others may do,anyone but a complete idiot would say that crap

''he's a european fighter''----SO?? What difference does that make.

Dude, people pay to see Hatton cause they want to see him. Gotta say your point 1 made me laugh lol

    1. everybody knows the outcome of FM fight and know its not worth paying the $$$ lol.

No wrong, because people (well Americans) just don't want to see him, to me it seems most prefer to watch on tv. Which is weird, wouldn't you want to pay to see skills like that live.

    I certainly did.

    Masterclass!
    :smoke

This title of this thread is ridiculous. Apologize to Mexico and their fighters immediately, whatever your name is! :deal

  9. I'm in no serious rush to see Hatton fight again unless it's against Cotto or Pacquaio. I only want to see David Haye fight a top 5 HW before I hop on his buzz train. Calzaghe opened my eyes after the Jones fight. I'd only want to see him have a rematch with Hopkins in the UK. If these guys were that exciting, I and probably alot of other people would agree with the above that a fighter is exciting when they could fights anyone. Pacquiao, Pavlik, Miranda, Mayorga and even De La Hoya for example are active fighters that are truly exciting. Calzaghe and Hatton are ATG's but Haye probably is the only one out of the three who could fall under that catergory.

british here but just want to see good fights. Id stay up till 4/5 am for any interesting match ups wherever they from. I guess calzaghe and hatton and haye do provide a bit of hype and reading the forum pre fight creates a bit of extra interest but was as interested in hopkins pavlik and klitch peter recently.

loll dude joe calzaghe will never be a legend. But i don't blame the cockup entirely on him...frank warren's also guilty of using the perfect match making tactics that would get him richer. If you open your eyes and analyze Joe Calzaghe's career you would see what i mean. Real boxing fans know what im talking about.

No way. What about Mexican fighters. Our fighters bring excitement in every fight. Whens the last time any of those 3 were in a fight of the year??

The most exciting fights this year didnt involve any British fighters (Margarito/Cotto, Vazquez/Marquez). Boxing would be fine.
