The fact she was only 16 when she married Jake may have a lot to do with it. He was something like 26 at the time of their wedding and boxing professionally. Who knows why she stayed with him for 10 years before divorcing him.
Because she was basically a child when he met her, she was probably scared of him, and money talks and bull**** walks and LaMotta had money and fame at the time. How long after he lost all his money and quit fighting did she stay with him. Oh, and they had kids together.
I knew a fighter who made Jake look like "a _ucken alterboy," to quote his son directly. this guy's reasons however were much more understandable (not right, but understandable) for being a *******, as he was continually forced out of top shots. He was also a private minder to some of the 'unsavory' mob bosses and an inforcer for them too.
Beyond what has already been mentioned, for Vikki the sex was probably terrific. Jake was and is so loaded with testosterone that he's probably always been insatiable. If Vikki was a nympho, Jake was capable of keeping up.
