Louis saw plenty of action in '51, but NONE of them mo-fo's were in the league of the hot-streaking Marciano.... Fact is, Louis only being age 37 didn't age gracefully at all as a fighter... When Louis fought Marciano, Louis was in-shape and pumped to kick-ass, yet slowed and faded in every facet... Louis proved game, but Marciano at age 28 had too much reserve and energy...... Marciano was destined to be champion by late '51.......

Who did Moore beat that would be favoured to beat the Jack Johnson that Choynski knocked out? Did he really have any Draws or wins over a heavyweight as good as Jeffries?

Are both not great light heavyweights?

Were both not just short of ever being considered the best fighter fighter in the world?

Yes, we dont have to rely on words to see Rocky Marciano knock out Joe Louis, that is why Rocky is great:patsch

I would make Valdes,Johnson,Baker,Henry, and Bivins favourites over the green super- middle that Choynski kod

I would also give a fair chance to Sheppard and Satterfield to emulate Choynski's ko at that stage of Johnson's fistic development .

How good was Jeffries when he fought Choynski ? That, as Hamlet said," is the question"?

He had fought a draw with an 8 fight Ruhlin, his Griffin fight is shrouded in mystery.

What had Jeffries actually achieved at this stage?

Beaten Lorraine ,and Long for whom there is no traceable form ,a 175lbs Baker and a 4-4-4 Van Buskirk.

Hardly earth shattering form is it?

Valdes for one. Moore was the number 1 contender for some time in the HW division and was much much more consistent as a HW.

Choynski is not a great LHW.

Choynski was nowhere near being the best fighter in the world, Moore ruled a division for a decade.

Rocky > Jeffries any which way it's sliced.

the Valdes Moore beat against the Johnson Choynski beat? yeah I'd pick the experienced HW number 1 contender over the green soon to be knocked out light heavyweight.
