Seeing as he fought RJJ 17 years after the 1st fight would you see him turning it down? Would Taylor dare go near him?
if the money was there taylor would take it in a second would be a similar outcome to hop-tarver, taylor way to scared to engage and more than happy to just get out of the fight in one peice
Jermain probably wouldn't get badly hurt and Hops would win easily this time IMO. Make it happen, Hopkins, at his age, doesn't need to be taking really hard fights every time he's out.
I think Taylor is totally shot. In the Hopkins fights his reflexes, head movement and footwork were very impressive and he countered well in them fights. He has none of that anymore.
I think Hopkins would win but Im not against Taylor coming back. Its not like hes been given boxing lessons by far inferior fighters. He lost in the final round to one of the best 168ers in the world and a guy who was one of the favourites in the super 6. He hasnt been sparked early or comprehensively outboxed. He was winning the Froch fight and not far down in the Abraham one. Even the first Pavlik fight he was one punch away from winning it in the second if I remember correct. Cleverley vs Taylor anyone?
If Taylor was to come back and win a couple of fights then i'd be all for Clev/Taylor. It would still be a big leap for Clev as he has faced nobody at the top level.
Wonder if Froch will fancy facing Hopkins after the S6. I imagine he could wind Hopkins up saying he Ko'd Taylor who Hopkins couldn't beat and that he beat Pascal 1st time of asking.
Hopkins knows better than to take a third fight with Taylor, he'd get absolutely no credit and would do more harm than good. Besides, he probably thinks he won both fights anyway and a third match wouldn't change that. And some people would be inclined to agree.
He would do it. He'd see it as a chance to avenge a loss while fighting a faded fighter. Hopkins is all about the legacy. He takes risks but smart risks. Fights he thinks he can win. He never fought Jones earlier because he would not have avenged the loss and he would have had to make sacrifices to clear up his legacy. In his mind he cleaned up his legacy by beating a shot Jones. At that stage he didn't have to make the sacrifices nor risk a loss.
