If Jermain Taylor had some kind of uppercut ..

He wouldve knocked out Hopkins and more than likely finished off Kelly Pavlik when given the opportunity.

Also he stopped hooking off the jab --

I think that if I were as big as Shaq, could shoot like Bird, had the quickness and court awareness of prime Stockton and the moves and mind of Jordan, that I would be in the NBA right now averaging 100 pts a game and OWNING everyone. Don't talk about uppercuts and Kelly Pavlik. Kelly seems to think that you're suppose to catch uppercuts with your ****ing chin!!!! So far I've never seen him hurt by one even though he caught some hellacious shots from both Miranda and Zertuche. If Taylor would have caught him with 2 or 3 uppercuts in round 2 of fight 1, it would have been OVAAAAAHH!

 

Very doubtful.....not as simple as that.

 

WHy not ... he hooked off the jab against Hopkins in the second fight ...

 

When he had Hopkins hurt ... if he wouldve brought something up the middle - he wouldve at least knocked him down and possibly knocked him out.

The same with Pavlik --

Having it doesn't mean he'd have used it effectively or at the right time or even landed it to win.

He has a a good punch, but look at how madly he missed hitting air when Pavlik was hurt.

and Hopkins doesnt ever get knocked out.

 

I agree ... but you would think if he had it he wouldve used it ... especially when his corner told him to throw something up the middle.

 

I think an uppercut wouldve finished him off ... especially followed by a left hook ...
