Well put, obviously your post comes across as being more diplomatic compared to me saying 'he was a hbo hypejob' but essentially we're both correct in our assertions that Jermain Taylor was pushed through fights and got some very questionable decisions because of the grooming HBO were doing for his (and their) future.
Hopkins cleary won the first fight no question. Second could've gone either way and Wright fight was Winky's. Should have been 1-3. Only criticism I have of Taylor is facing JMW's after "beating" Hopkins. He couldn't help the hype he got that's not his fault as he wasn't encouraging it. Everyone could see once he ran into a big puncher he would get sparked and that's what happened on multiple occassions. Guy seems class as a person and I wish him well.
I've been saying this about Taylor for a while as you can see by my posts in the other Taylor threads that have been made recently, my opinion on JT has always been that he should have taken what he was given and retired with his health in good shape. Pardon me for not being on the 'Waaar Taylor' bandwagon only to later climb off it and say 'damn Jermain sounded ******ed in the post fight interview...he needs to retire' atsch
Almost, fighting out of his backyard he ALMOST beat Froch but he didn't but what he did do was get KTFO.
I think there's a difference between a hype job and someone who didn't quite live up to expectations. I had Hopkins edging him twice on my cards, but to compete like that with Hopkins straight boxing, you have to be good. He was very talented IMO, despite being carefully groomed to be the US's new superstar.
Wasn't funny just sad, the guy is almost on the James Toney level of deluded and needs to retire as soon as possible for the sake of his health and family. And supposedly i'm the one who's 'agenda driven' when you got half these idiots cheering him on in his quest to develope permanent brain damage.
well listen this isn't any groundbreaking stuff you've discovered here. people have been calling him an HBO hypejob for years.
Nah chico, he was just acting. Seems like everyone around him was just leading him on to promote his next fight. Taylor never seemed like the guy to talk trash like that.
I'm not claiming it's groundbreaking i'm just saying a lot of people arn't willing to say it simply because of what a nice guy Taylor appears to be. Not really a Calzaghe fan :think
No ****? Crazy. It's usually the Calzombies that were always obsessing over Taylor OR (and especially) Pavlik. So, it really is the Hopkins angle then?
