I know he has already beaten Bika but even with his inactivity which I doubt is his fault id still say he is more deserving.
Gutknecht is undefeated and has just beaten Balzay who has only lost to Steiglitz in a fight he was ahead in, so I cant really agree that Brinkley has done more than Gutknecht
Balzay as noted was beaten by Steiglitz but was ahead before becoming to exhausted to continue and lost closely to undefeated Gutknecht, but Balzay does have a not to distant win over undefeated Inkin for the WBO belt so I dont think Brinkley is even more deserving than him either.
I agree Miranda hasnt done enough to warrant a title shot either, but was training for one recently, so should be in reasonable shape, and Miranda does hold a clear win over new super 6 hope A Green and has in general I feel fought (win or lose) in a better class than Brinkley (do you think Brinkley would have done any better than Miranda against the people Miranda lost to?) So I also find Miranda more deserving.
I said I dont begrudge any fighter earning a payday, just that the fight dosent excite me at all, I admit due to how eliminators work that hes earned his chance and said all this, just feel the other fighters mentioned are more deserving

Brinkley earned his shot at the title. He'll take a beating from Bute. I hope he gets well compensated for it.

Brinkley hasnt earned ****. He holds the #2 spot now which is more then enough for what he has done. He wants a title shot? Let him fight Bika, Miranda, Andrade or Zuniga. At least these are guys that we all have heard of and are experienced fighters with decent resumes.

Except Bika, all those guys already had their shot and failled. How many times do you want to see Miranda step up in competition and get brutally KOed again or outclassed ?
Brinkley will probably be KOed by a bodyshot, but he hasn't had his chance yet.

Brinkley is undefeated as well for a long time and the only guy Gutknetch has barely beaten who is arguably better opposition that Brinkley fought is Balzay. Jesse has dominated almost every guy he faced in the last few years, despite being the underdog most of the times and just won an IBF "eliminator".
Are you saying that Balzay, who was stopped by Stieglitz (the same guy who was blown by Berrio and Andrade) and is 0-2 in a row is deserving more a title shot ?
I'm not saying Brinkley will beat Bute, he will probably be stopped, but Miranda has already had his opportunity more than once (Abraham 2x, Pavlik and Ward) and fell short.
Give Brinkley his chance as well.

Sure Brinkley hasnt been beaten in a while, but with no disrespect the quality hasnt been world class either or even the class of the guys mentioned and yes even considering Balzays recent loses id still rate him higher than Brinkley when you consider who hes beaten and lost to. A close loss to undefeated Gutknecht and a loss of his WBO title to Steiglitz quitting when ahead but exhausted, and previously beating Inkin is still a level above Brinkleys recent competion. I dont think he deserves a title shot, just more worthy due to fighting at a higher level.
Yet you say Gutknecht barely beating Balzay who you dont think is worthy is arguably better competion than Brinkley has fought (meaning Balzay and Gutknecht based on what you wrote are also more worthy).
Steiglitz the guy who got beat by Berrio and Andrade who are higher level fighters than Brinkley has fought must also be more deserving on what you say also as he beat Balzay before Gutknecht, also Steiglitz does have a points win over Berrio before his KO loss in the rematch, and Steiglitz is now WBO champ (id imagine a unification fight even if not the best champ is more appealing than a fight against Brinkley)
I agree Miranda has had his shot and dosent yet warrant another but due to fighting at a higher level at SMW and owning a win over undefeated A Green (his 1st close loss to Abraham and his loss to Pavlik were at MW and still a level higher than Brinkley has ever contested) is more deserving even if it wasnt a to recent a win.
Like I said I dont begrudge Brinkley a payday and did say on my first post you commented on fair play to him he won an eliminator, just that there are others who I think make for better competion

To Gambleer I have just noticed after replying to you someone has started a thread saying why not Bute - Steiglitz in April, so I doubt im not to much on my own with what I wrote (could be wrong).
