man as much as I would like to see Marquez step up to 140 I know he would not do so well, If he pulls off a win Im sure he will have a real hard time doing it. In my opinon Marquez already cemented his name in the hall of fame,he was avoided during his prime and now that he is older he is still a feared name. I would hate to see him tossed around the ring to the younger guys, I hope he gets his final fight with pac Im sure he would retire after that, so inconlusion NO marquez would not do so well in 140, he is past his prime, his heart wants it but his body can't respond as well no more, and guys don't think im against marquez hes my #1 but it is what it is, he is awsome to watch, he gives us a war almost everytime he steps in the ring, but the fire is going out
He has the talent but i'm afraid age has caught up to him. Not sure how if he can bring his power to 140. He could defenitely outboxed couple of boxers (maidana) but im not sure if he can take his power. Katsidis did drop him and maidana is a bigger puncher.
Khans speed would be a factor and i do see khan getting a flash kd but jmm is a master at ad******g you never know....
Khans speed decreased as the fight progress vs maidana.Perfect timing will disrupt speed. We know jmm has good timing.Khans and bradley give jmm the toughest fights at 140.JMM should move up and face either alexander or kotelnik to test the waters at 140.
this isn't about manny.. that point not taken but i can clearly see Marquez get by Kahn because he walks through some of Kahns firepower then unlocks him and catches him on that glass fiberglass jaw.. Probably DA goes the distants with Marquez but i can see an Split Dec going either way.... for some reason I have a feeling that Tim Bradley gives him trouble.. ( sorry I can't explain why..Tim Bradley is painful for me to watch his style is not my cup of tea..) and suprisingly maybe even Judah.. but the Judah vs Marquez is the best fight outof the 140 crop followed by Kahn, DA, Tim Bradley.. didn't mention Ortiz, Marcos, Peterson or Kotelnik because (Ortiz is still broken from his loss) ( Marcos blue print is out thanks to Kahn (Body work) ) (Peterson is a B+ fighter and would be on the canvas early and often by Marquez) Kotlelnik i think just gets unlock by the locksmith Marquez and gets KO'ed or UD... gatti??? huh??
Marquez showed them same skills in the second Diaz fight, but it didn't stop Khan from calling him out then. Fact is, JMM showed nothing in the Katsidis fight which Khan didn't already know. Those attributes you mention, I'm not disputing any of them. I've been saying for a very long time that JMM does have the tools to upset Khan. But if you tried to get a general consensus of 'who wants who most', then based on Marquez turning Khan away previously and Nacho wanting no part of Khan in the past, the majority of people will say....."Khan wants JMM more than JMM wants Khan".
i would like to see marquez fight ortiz, peterson, kotelnik or maidana. see how he does against those guys first. think he would beat all but may have problems with ortiz and maidana cus of there power.
I would favour him against every lightwelterweight apart from bradley, that's 50/50. As for legacy enhancement, if he picks up a couple of belts in a 4th weight class he is clearly ahead of mab and em.
the reason why khan was regected last time was because it was the wrong fight at the wrong time. stylistically khan should beat marquez, he has the height, reach and speed advantage which will mean marquez will have to press the fight which isn't his style. after the maidana fight i think khan wants a fight where he can look good, thats one reason why he won't take the marquez fight because it brings too much pressure and khan wants a fight where he can show all his offensive skills to please the american fans who may not have seen that yet.
Let Marquez prove he can get past his past prime superior - the legend that is `Terrible` before we throw him up a weight class.
