Joe said he is planning on fighting 2 more times, we know that the first fight is against Hopkins, and should he win, it will most likely be against the former pound for pound king, Jones. If he defeats both and then retires, he would have defeated the 2 greatest fighters of our generation, albeit past their prime versions, but he would have gone undefeated...how do you think history will remember Calzaghe?
Well. Joe said himself that Hopkins ISN'T a great fighter. Hopkins is just a name he wants on his resume. So judging by his opinion, this win shouldn't effect his historical standing too much. And Jones? Same story...only worse.
Who cares if he beats Jones? Jones was one of the greatest that ever lived, but he's nobody now. If he takes on Jones in his last fight that would be a terrible shame. A total waste.
Joe still wants Taylor - providing him and Taylor both win their fight. Hopkins - then Taylor and he's done - at least that what was said.
Roy is past his prime but is alive after his win over Tito. Hopkins is still in his late prime, he is a legitimate top2-4 p4p today so defeating him would mean everything for Joe's record. He should retire at the end of the year. If he does that with two wins, he'll be the man with the longest undefeated record and never been beaten.
Hopkins is a living legend who also happens to be winning at the highest level, so that's fine with me, that's a competitive encounter, fair enough. But fighting Jones would be an insult.
The best possible outcome for Joe's career now would be wins over Hopkins, and then the winner of Pavlik and Taylor. If he got through them and retired, I think he'd have to get respect from everybody here and everyone in boxing.
Roy Jones has everything to gain and nothing to lose vs Joe Joe has everything to lose and little to nothing to gain vs Jones.
You're signature is a breeding ground for baby Pavlik's. Can't take what you just said serious seeing as I already know your a fanboy.
