I honestly don't know....I do know that I doubt that Frank Warren would have ever allowed it to happen though, he's smothered Calzaghes career like he tried to do with Hatton with his **** match-making. The difference is Hatton wouldn't put up with it, Calzaghe has, and still talks up Warren to this day when everyone else can see what a **** the man really is.

In all seriousness, you can't sit there and tell me that Warren doesn't over-protect his cash-cows and make **** matches for them in a ridiculous attempt to fool the more naive fans of those fighters? If you agree with that and also agree that Calzaghe is a Warren fighter (you can't really argue that one) then you have to see things from my point of view, despite the wins over Lacy and Kessler. Stepping up the competition at age 35 doesn't suddenly mean he was great all along and everyone under-rated him - it MAY mean that but it doesn't make it fact. Calzaghe also wasted 2 fights by taking on Manfredo and Bika after that Lacy win too, they were bull**** defences at a time when he was running out of time.

There is also a point of view that says Calzaghe has been unlucky that 168 hasn't exactly been a hot-bed of talent during his reign and I actually agree with that but that in a way strengthens my point in that he shouldn't have waited 10 ****ing years to unify the division.....

**** it I'm biased, you know it - but I think my points all hold water.

    The attack rests, your honour.

I'm going to be making a 6 month ban bet before that fight, so if Calzaghe does win I won't be around to read about it

Not going to argue with much of that. Joe and his dad have been too gullible and compliant with the sly meanderings of ol fish eyes over the years.

My argument with you is that you refuse to acknowledge his ELITE status. I believe it's said he broke his hand earlyish in the fight with Reid, other than that he has DOMINATED pretty much everyone he fought, and you know as well as I do they weren't ALL bums between the bookends of Eubank and Kessler. And for what it's worth, I thought Eubank looked a whole load more up for it and firing vs Joe than he did in his previous fights against Collins.

I just don't think Joe the boxer should be held that accountable for not getting the mega fights we should have seen him in, other circumstances aside who WAS there to fight? Joe was never really on Roy's radar, James fell in love with burger king, Hopkins backed out more or less so I hear.... Ottke wanted some?

Anyway this issue has been done to death, i'm off.

    Peace

So he dominated Baika..lol...NO... Joe got knocked down plenty of times and NEVER finished a quality opponent. So he is not on the level of the other guys who beat top comp DOMINATINGLY.

Oh, Yeah. Toney knocks Calzaghe down once or twice and gets a UD.

Toney has always had problems with fast fighters and he would have problems with Calzaghe. Joe would never lay on the inside with James and would box him all night giving him lots of angles.

    Calzaghe UD12 Toney

Toney by UD. Joe's style isn't the best for an aggressive and accurate counter puncher like Toney.

    Hey we disagree, fair enough.

Yes I do refuse to acknowladge his elite status purely because he's undefeated - up until not long ago so was Valuev

OK he broke his hand V Reid, that may or may not be true - but I had that fight a narrow victory for Reid, at worst a draw, I still think the scoring was terrible in that one. Now picture Jones, who also damaged his hand....comfortably out-scored Hopkins who is Robin Reid x 100. That's an ELITE fighter. Calzaghe is a great champion no doubt about it purely on longevity, but ELITE? Maybe me and you have different ideas on what that word means.

Like it or not, Joe the boxer is entirely accountable for not getting the big fights, he's just as accountable for that as he is for fighting the likes of McIntyre, Podwill and Manfredo - all of which were inexcusable. I could bring up a few others but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at....

Peace to you too by the way and happy new year :good
