What will that mean to you as a fan?

Will Calzaghe get the respect that he deserves for beating the best fighter at light heavyweight right now (my opinion), or do most people still think that Dawson is still too green?

I rate Dawson highly and think it would be Joe Calzaghe's best career win if he pulled it off, yes, even better than the Kessler victory, thats how high i rate this kid.

    What do you think?

Mikkel Kessler is far FAR supeior to chad dawson.

Dawson isnt even the man at LHW, theres no point in joe fighting him at all at this point

Man, I like Kessler but he is getting overrated. The guy is one dimensional fighter and Dawson has a lot more going for him atm in terms of ability.

I already view Calzaghe as a great fighter so a win over Dawson would not be raise him significantly in my views but it would still add a few notches. Calzaghes' resume thus far doesn't stack up to his ability.

Kessler is superiour in accomplishments yes, but skill wise, i can't agree.

Take nothing away from Kessler, he is an awesome fighter, i just personally think that Dawson is better, and in my eyes he is the man to beat at 175.

Calzaghe gets a lot of respect from the Boxing Community - so if he beat's B-Hop - he doesn't need to take another fight - he should retire on top.

But if Taylor beats Pavlik - and Calzaghe beat Hopkins - you can look forward to them two getting it on at the end of the year. But I don't see Calzaghe beating Hopkins.

I think Kessler should stay at 168 personally for now, and clean up the division once Calzaghe moves up, because he is certainly capable of doing it.

He gets little respect on the forums though, and i know that won't mean **** to him, but it would mean something to me personally, and probably to a lot of Calzaghe fans to see him finally get the respect he deserves.

I see him beating Hopkins rather easily at this stage, and think he would beat him even in his prime. Thats not nuthugging, i've been through this fight in my head about 20 times, and i just can't see Hopkins winning. Calzaghe's too quick, throws far too much and his stamina is a match for anybody currently fighting today. The only danger is the counter right hand.

Hopkins (if he signs, if not Woods)
    Winner of Taylor/Pavlik
    Dawson.

Thats what i want to see, and if he gets them fights and pulls it off, then this overated bollocks that most are spouting needs to stop.

Dawson is better than Kessler. Dawson is much bigger than Calzaghe he's 6'3 a southpaw with quick hands good defense, movement and power. He would give Joe fits it's really a pick em fight between them. Even Amsterdam will tell you this. This would be a better victory than Kessler.

It would mean LOADS to me, and will put Calzaghe in the top 100 p4p of all time.
In hindsight though, and when it comes to working out these things hindsight is everything. Kessler and Dawson will both go on to achieve a lot in the sport, which makes Calzaghe great if/when they do.

Depends on who Dawson beats between now and lets say November, for a fight with Calzaghe. Wins over Glenn Johnson and Diaconu would'nt be bad. Personally i'd rather he beat 2 of the other champs. Erdei/Green preferably and leave Calzaghe fight Woods.

Everbody's raving about him now, but in all honesty, were Calzaghe to fight and beat him in March, it would be discredited quite easily. Unless, he picks up another couple of impressive wins and then he fights Calzaghe in November.

Cal needs to fight Bhop and if he beats him fight the winner of Pavlik vs Taylor then retire because he will beat any one of those 2 but I tell you this he will have his hands full with Bhop and could possibly lose that fight. I have started to give him his props because I thought Kessler would KO him so with those two fights ahead and he wins as a American I think I would crown him the best England fighter Ive seen.

PS.... He cant beat Dawson so for such a low reward let it go.......

I strongly disagree. Dawson is considerably better in every imaginable facet.

Dawson is world class and beats Kessler in at least as convincing fashion as he did Adamek. If Calzaghe beats him then Joe will be on top of my p4p list.
