If Joe had beat these guys in their prime (mixed in with the best of his current resume) where would he rank as an ATG?

Prime Roy Jones jr, Prime Bernard Hopkins, Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, Chad Dawson, Kelly Pavlik, Jemain Taylor, Winky Wright, Sven Ottke (early unification, Ottke champ in ninety eight).

All fights at a stretch, and sacrifice would have been capable of being made I should imagine. I have left out James Toney as he was at Cruiser when Joe got going, and I doubt that they could have fought due to Toneys weight issues.

Where do you think Joe would rank as an ATG if he was 45-0, and had wins over the above names alongside the best on his resume as well?

He would be definitely top #5 ATG. But I think if he beat prime Hopkins and prime Jones
(the guys who he really will/was fought) it would give him like top #20.
Now he is somewhere Top #60-#90.

you forgot to mention Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and oh yeah, Ali. Then, i would put him somewhere between 5-10 ATG

All the fights I listed were totally and utterly feasible of being made. I left out Toney as due to weight issues that one would have been unlikely. Where would you place Joe as an ATG had he made, and won these handfull of fights?

This is a mute point, as even if the fights had been made with prime Jones and prime Hopkins, there is no way Calzaghe would have beaten them. However, for the sake of discussion, if he had done so, I would have him top 10-15 OAT.

If Joe had beaten all those guys in their prime he would be the greatest! Can you name be an ATG who managed to beat EVERYONE within 15lbs during their era without loss? If jones had managed to beat all those names he would be the greatest.. etc

there are people here that have Roy Jones in their top 10 ATG lists and look at his crappy resume. If Calzaghe beat all of them he would be top 3 no doubt.

Jones has prime Toney, Hopkins, and a HW title on there.

Not necessarily, Jones beat prime Toney, and a young Hopkins, ran into Tarver, and Johnson at the wrong time. He's not regarded as the greatest.

Sugar Ray Robinson, and Ali more often then not contest the GOAT spot, and both have losses.

It is often stated that Joe was unfortunate to come up in an era where he didn't have the opportunity to prove his true worth. From a British persoective ariving after Benn, Eubank, Collins perhaps prompts that line of thought to be repeated in the press... If what you say is true though, then this can't be true.

Hopkins, Jones, Ottke unification improve his resume for sure.

Wright would be seen as too small

Johnson adds nothing, Calzaghe has beaten numerous better fighters (including two that beat Johnson). Tarver adds nothing.

Pavlik, Taylor and Dawson would be derided as hypejobs if Calzaghe had beaten them at this point.

I disagree, I think they all would add something to Joes resume.

The amount of Kudos to beating Pavlik, Taylor, and Dawson would matter a lot on what they went to do in the future. If they went on to do nothing at all, sure people are fully witin there right to call them hype jobs (to some degree) - they would still be very good wins though.
