Great post but with your last 2 words i fear you summed up why the fight wont be made.

At the moment he is somewhat of a hidden gem and Joe has stated he only wants the fight that will get him the most recognition, i.e biggest and most well-known names.

Sure - they are the higly payed experts who know-it-all - just proves how much they know and how much they buy the hype themselves...since they badly underrated Joe and overrated Lacy. Seems a couple of people on this site know much more about boxing than these overpayed prima donnas.

Zakman is a very good analyst - he is just going through a bad patch...he will be back!

Of course...the industry is shallow...I don't doubt it...

What I am doing here, as one of his hardcore fans, is making an appeal to Joe, as a man I have come to respect character-wise - I am saying: "Joe, you know what is what...you are not buying all the hype about Hopkins, just like you didn't buy all the hype about Lacy...you KNOW Dawson is very good and the man to beat at 175 - so do it, Joe! Do it! Fight the best! We will love you and respect you all the more for it!"

This is what I am doing!

i can only see this happening in the states TBH. why would dawson come to the UK? he's the one holding a title, and most people wanna see joe over there to shut a few morons up.

Of course! Joe is a big draw now...he could sell this fight even in the US - but Dawson would definitely travel to Cardiff...this would be a bigger fight thatn the one against Kessler, because the Americans would care much more. Joe can make a mint out of this fight! Probably much more than against Hopkins - he would get 60% of the pot instead of 30%.

I hate to rain on your parade, but don't you think it would be nice to see JC fighting in hostile territory against a top flight opponent. Put him in the shoes Kessler were in when he travelled to Wales. Yeah, yeah I know JC says himself that he fought in England several times and that should count as away for him, I just don't know about that. Maybe some of the UK blokes can weigh in on that. I like to think a true great fighter/champ fight anybody anywhere anytime!

Because Dawson is not well known...He might even have to travel to defend his belt to Montreal!:patsch

Unless mad people like me push for this it ain't gonna happen - just like the Kessler fight wasn't going to happen without a massive push that started on sites like this one!

let's put it this way, the crowds at his fights against reid and woodhall would have been happy to see joe taken out of the arena in an ambulance.

That was then...now Joe is universally loved by casual fans in Britain...that's why they came to see Manfredo!

doesn't always work like that dec. if witter-hatton was staged in bradford the crowd would be very pro witter and anti hatton imo.
