Trust me on this one...if Joe wants to fight Dawson, Dawson will say YES and he will travel to Britain for the lesser share of the pot...he needs exposure BADLY! He is one of the best fighters in the world and yet he gets less recognition than some very average fighters...

Dawson will not get away with just burrying an old has-been NAME - he is good enough to be one of the very best and he will have to prove it by fighting the best - Adamek and Diaconu and a couple of have-been NAMES will just not be enough...It's better for Dawson's legacy to make a great fight against Joe AND LOSE than not to fight Joe at all! Just like is made sense to Kessler - who increased in good analysts' eyes despite the fact he lost!

Zakman is going through a rough patch, that's all - he will pick winners consistently again soon.

Also, he might feel he can finish this old champ off. Both good reasons.

personally i'd rather joe blasted out old man popkins in the states whilst chad took care of business diaconu and beat an old name to make more of a name for himself, taver for example. that would set up a winter bout in the states between the two nicely, my plan is faultless :rasta

I dont know, i think beating Dawson could really help his legacy, as Dawson is really gonna make waves at light heavy and possibly higher long after Calzaghe has retired. He has no obligation to fight him though, like he did against Kessler, Dawson is young and hungry and as yet is not a big name, therefore no one could accuse Calzageh of ducking him. If he could fight him but chose Woods instead, I would be dissapointed. Woods is a waste of time right now, it does **** all for his legacy. He should fight Hopkins for the name and money, and try and get either the Pavlik-Taylor winner (unlikely now he has moved up) or Dawson. Woods is a waste of time

Your plan is good - Joe wants to humiliate that ducker - FINE! He's earned an ego-fight by taking on Kessler. Then, though, he should come back to taking care of business - Dawson...you could argue that if Dawson is not enough of a sell, he should fight Woods...but by then, Joe might not have enough left...it might be too late for him, in his career. That is why it makes sense for him to take on Dawson - one for the hardcore fans who love him - before retiring against Woods in a farewell fight!

If Joe does all that...he will become a legend, his legacy - proud and lasting and the love and respect of his fans - eternal!:happy

Dawson will become a top p4p fighter not in the too distant future...Pavlik is good but he belongs at MW for now...Joe should take Pavlik out of his mind if the alternative is Dawson.

Of course...the best would be: Hopkins, Dawson, Pavlik, Woods - but that is just too much - supernatural he may be, but he is just a human being at 35.

He is excellent and getting better. Only questions over him are his chin and mental strength...Diaconu fight should dispell at least one of these two.

Calzaghe doesn't have to beat Dawson at this point. Now if he beats Hopkins, then calls himself the man at LHW saying he plans on fighting a couple of fights there are the champion, he would need to face Dawson then.

Who was ducking who? Roy wasn't ducking Calzaghe, he was fighting at LHW, and besides Calzaghe wasn't a big name at that time. As for Calzaghe-Dawson, well Dawson needs Calzaghe not the other way around. The only way for Dawson to earn a shot against Calzaghe is to prove himself, and judging by Calzaghe's timetable and the fights being scheduled for Dawson right now, it's very possible.

Here is Dawson's scenario. Dawson still has to face his mandatory Adrian Diaconu, and he must face him before April 25 or have his title stripped. On top of that he must set a date to defend his belt against any optional opponent before Januray 25. Jugding by these dates, Dawson's next opponent is most likley Diaconu. Once he gets past him, he can take another fight against either Woods, Erdie, Johnson, etc. If Dawson beats his next two opponets this would set himself up for a showdown with Calzaghe sometime in late fall or early winter.
