How would he do against Mayweather?

Joe was a master at adopting midfight.
    Could he figure Floyd's style?

    Plus their is Joe's workrate.

This fight would be a classic.

    Discuss.

I can see Floyd trying to shoulder roll off the ropes, and Joe's work rate catching him more than he ever been hit before. If Joe throws 10 punches at least 3,4 will get in, and Joe can punch all night.

I think FLoyd's counterpunching and his footspeed would be the detemrining factors in that fight. Joe C loves to throw his flurries once he has his opposition pinned on the ropes, and as great of a fighter off the ropes as FLoyd is, I don't think he'd allow himself to get pinned on the ropes and shoulder roll Calzaghe.

Joe C wouldn't be able to cut the ring on Floyd and Mayweather would do the majority of his damage in the center of the ring. UD for FLoyd, but Joe C's workrate would make it an interesting fight. I'd say 8-4.

Calzaghe could box off the back foot and front foot effectively even against the likes of Kessler. Calzaghe would beat Mayweather at 168.

I think Mayweather is too dynamic and crafty for Calzaghe. But Calzaghe is fast enough and talent enough to make it a difficult fight. But both have something in common, neither has ever faced an ATG while in their prime, only when they were older -- still good but past it, and in some cases, shot to pieces. Saul could turn out to become a Kessler... a good fighter, but failed to become a great one, due to his own inability (and his body falling a part).

its amazing all these victories calzaghe would have had (in the eyes of the brits), and yet during his entire career he fought one proven world class fighter in his prime

its obvious why he chose not to go to the US when jones and Hopkins were P4P the best in the world and ruling their divisions

good fighter, but like many Europeans who are gun shy of the US, ends up having his fans trying to make him bigger than he was, or even tried to be

    Fight wouldn't happen.

    Southpaw?
    Great chin?
    Massive workrate?

Like I said before my health comes first!

Wouldn't happen as Floyd wouldn't want to risk another loss tarnishing him , 2 losses would be too much

Neither guy would have made the fight, amusingly enough. That said, I think the Hopkins fight tells you all you need to know. Think that fight except Floyd throws a lot more punches than an ancient B-Hop.
