He will be...Should he be is the better question....I dont think that he should, Im a huge Jones fan, always have been. HOWEVER I have a rule of thumb when it comes to p4p...You cant be higher then a guy that has beatten you, if that guy is still active. Both Tarver and Johnson are active and Tarver is a belt holder and Johnson will be as soon as he takes Diaconu to school. So unless those two make it back, Jones shouldnt either.

I would say yes but I dont Rjj will fight again if he beats Joe C. It would push him quite a few place up p4p all time.

Jones has a punchers chance against Calzaghe, he is natrually a lot bigger, so you can never write it off, as great as Calzaghe is.

Of course. He will be #2-5.

He will have proven that while he may not be the best HW or CW but if he beats Calzaghe then we can safly assume that he is without doubt the best 168 ever and he will be forgiven for his problems after going up in weight. The things he achieved there will only be seen as bonuses and the problems he had will draw down less.

    Of course he shouldn't be.

He hasn't beat a world top 10 ranked opponent since 2004, so how does one fight mean he should be in the top 10 pound-for-pound? Pound-for-pound rankings aren't about past achievements (or Holyfield would be no.1 just now as he has never officially retired and is therefore the greatest 'active' boxer in the world), nor are they about one-off fights (or Oscar would jump to number 1 if he beats Pacquiao, which would be insane).

Pound-for-pound rankings are determined by who are taking on the best, toughest challenges available to them and winning on a regular basis. One fight cannot hurl someone into the top 10, or it demeans the rankings. Margarito jumped in after he beat Cotto, but he was already a world champion with some excellent wins in recent years. He was probably ranked 10-15 before that fight, maybe 16-20 at worst. After the Trinidad fight, Roy Jones should have been ranked about 3,894th!

Yeah, but I'd probably put him at #10 depending on how impressively he beats Calzaghe.

He would sneak onto my 10. I have him at #25ish as it stands, and I catch **** for it.

P4P should be about a fighter's most recent achievements. So, defeated the P4P 2 should bring him into the top 10 as 9 or 10.

Nah, no way. One fight shouldn't be enough to make you one of the best 10 fighters in the world. Jones hasn't beaten a good opponent in years.
