Those were the 2 I remember being mentioned - Lewis & Tyson. To a lesser extent, talks of a unification with Byrd floated around, but I'm not sure if any serious discussions ever took place on that one.

    What's the joke?

Why wouldn't Roy have had a shot at beating those guys?

Obviously where I've mentioned Evander and Mike, I'm referring to the versions from 03 onwards.

    Roy would have beaten Valuev.

I think it was just an awful match up stylistically.

A heavy handed southpaw who'd have poured forward without an ounce of respect for Roy.

Roy's undoing at HW would have been against a guy with a combination of a certain style, with a certain mindset.

After a few rounds, Ruiz gave up mentally. In-between the rounds, Norman Stone was screaming: "Why the f*ck are you waiting on this guy Johnny!?"

I think there were more talented HW's than Sanders who would have had a harder night against Roy. Again: It's the combination of the style and the will.

I think Jones could have probably beaten Sanders. The one I thought he would have lost that many viewed as a winnable fight would have been against Byrd. I think Byrd would have matched up extremely well against heavyweight Roy.

David Tua vs Roy Jones Jr would have been entertaining to watch.

He would have beaten most or maybe all of those after 2003.

But there still would have been Lennox, and both K boys.

Yes, Byrd would have been an extremely difficult fight for Roy. He could well have lost. But I think it would have been a very technical fight. A tactical game of chess. Lots of feints, little action. I don't think the viewers would have been happy.

I can't agree with you regarding Sanders though, even though Byrd was more talented. Sanders wouldn't have tried to pinch points like Byrd. He'd have just walked Roy down whilst throwing huge shots. I just can't envisage Roy beating him at all. I'm glad the fight never happened. I'd have given Roy more of a chance against Tua, because I think he could possibly have avoided Tua's devastating left hook.

    You're kidding yourself.

These types of posts are so ignorant.

Do you honestly believe Tua would have just walked over to Roy and landed his devastating left hook?

    Just like that?

    No feeling out rounds?

    Give Roy some credit.
