He never blanked him. Ruiz won like 2-3 rounds!

    Nitpicking, N -- totally one-sided. A BRILLIANT performance.

He would have been ranked in the TOP 10 possibly TOP 5 fighters of all time. Based on the weight RANGE of his title belts..

Your dismissal of Ruiz is interesting, on reflection, D. Shot a video in L.A 'n Vegas leading up to the fight. Many fans interviewed thought pretty much as you do, but a goodly share of SAVVY BOXING INSIDERS thought Ruiz would be just too big, too strong 'n hit too hard for Roy.

    Take a look: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0_HOWlGD6o[/ame]

Agreed, JG. I remember a lot of experts saying RJJ had bitten off more than he could chew. I think if he'd retired after this he would be top 15 or even top 10 of all time. I still have him top 25, but every fight he sticks around for is just sad.

What was Roy lacking to crack your top 10, E?

If he'd retired after Ruiz he falls about 10 or 11, in my list, but I would have liked to have seen RJJ fight better opposition at LHW (namely Dariusz Michalczewski and fewer Richard Fraziers). I also would have liked to have seen him defend his heavyweight title at least once against another big-name heavyweight to prove that the Ruiz fight wasn't a fluke. THEN he would easily have been top 10.

Still, prime-RJJ is easily in my top 5 favorite fighters of all time.

I don't dismiss roy, I think most fans still give him props for his prime.
He is in the top 50 if you ask me.

Is he no higher for the same reasons Eleventh Hour expressed, L?
