If Joshua KO's Usyk will he finally get some credit from everyone?

I'm not saying Joshua will beat Usyk if they rematch, but there's always the chance that Anthony Joshua could defeat Oleksandr Usyk in that possible rematch. I've seen stranger things happen in rematches (especially when Boxer Punchers are involved). If Anthony does do that, he should be credited accordingly (as have others before him).

The best set of heavyweights since the 90s based on what? Imo Whyte, parker, Ruiz and this version of povetkin are a pretty poor set of names to find in a top 10 for any era. Fury, the clear best of them all has defeated one fighter who would be a champion in another era and he's not around anymore

Agree with you completely. People forget Lennox was under appreciated by the same people who think Joshua is garbage today. which is nonsense when you look at what either man has achieved. I'm not comparing Joshua to Lewis but ir's hard to argue with someone who defeated and avenged everyone they fought. If Joshua won the rematch it would be a great win and I think he has chance. I think the problem with people at the top is that they always have detractors that are very vocal. As you say it takes time to get context after a fighters retired.

No, there's always something that people will bring up to discredit others.

Let's say the war hadn't happened. He'd get credit but would still be 1:1 and it's a still a guy that was a cruiser for his whole prime and a guy AJ has the size, power and age advantage over. So he wouldn't deserve too much credit ultimately. And I'd say the same for Fury if it was to be 1:1 with a cruiser. Even Fury implied he wouldn't give himself much credit for beating Usyk due to the size difference.

But now it's a bit different with Usyk. If he comes back from the war with PTSD issues or whatever, then AJ gets even less credit for it. So AJ is sitting/training in luxury and then fights a guy who has come back from a war zone, possibly been in battle (not sure what he's actually doing there) and we'll supposed to pretend he's fighting a focused and in form Usyk? There would be a massive asterisk on the win now, unless Usyk shows no signs of any problems.

As for AJ not getting credit in general, here's why. Not only is he helped by home and ref advantage every time, he made it as difficult as possible to make the Fury and Wilder fights when he was undefeated and controlled the deals, and these were the fights that would have given him the credit if he'd won. It's a fact he was disrespectful to Fury and wouldn't give him 50/50, which even Haye gave to Fury before Fury beat Wlad. With a 50 split that fight would have happened. As for Wilder, the 100 million deal story is a lie as there is no way Finkel doesn't take that and make more money than he ever would with Wilder. I also don't believe Wilder was scared of AJ because Wilder is too stupid to be scared and thought he was invincible.

You spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about which fighters are going to get ‘credit’ - it doesn’t matter. Boxing is a very polarising sport and there’ll be people who never give a fighter credit regardless what they achieve.

It's a yes from me. How could you not give him credit all things being equal?

It's not an impossibility after all. Just not likely based on their last fight IMO

He'd get full credit from me.

His chances of stopping Usyk aren't high, in my estimation. It would be a significant achievement, especially given how the first bout went and the mental baggage Joshua will carry into a rematch.

This simply isn't true by the way. It's very obvious from your posts that you're primarily a Joshua fan. You're just saying it's Povetkin for the same reason Aydamn did with Dillian Whyte - although he ended down a weird rabbithole with that one.

I don't give a **** what you or safin think, I like Joshua as well as other fighters. I've plenty of reasonable arguments to support what I'm saying. If you disagree then fine.

    lol no they're not.

    Whyte's best wins -

    Parker
    Rivas
    Chisora
    Helenius
    Post covid povetkin

    Joshua's best wins

    Wlad
    Povetkin (38 years old)
    Whyte
    Parker
    Ruiz

How are these resumes comparable, one is clearly better than the other.
